Chip City Cookies' New York Expansion Continues With East Northport, NY OpeningChip City Cookies continues to make New York the gourmet Cookie State with the opening of its newest location in Suffolk County. With six leases secured throughout the state and preparing to open their doors in 2023, the popular cookie brand has launched their latest storefront in the heart of the New York City suburbs. The brand has quickly earned a reputation for quality and variety in the gourmet cookie segment, and this third Long Island location marks the halfway point of their New York expansion plans for the year.

“We are thrilled to be opening our doors six times throughout New York this year,” said Chip City Cookies founder and CEO Peter Phillips. “These openings are an incredible step forward for the brand.”

Chip City Cookies has been enjoying a growing popularity thanks to a reputation for creative, flavorful combinations mixed with traditional baking principles and generous cookie portions. As many as forty different varieties are rotated in and out with typically a half-dozen choices featured weekly. The brand’s home state of New York and neighboring New Jersey currently have 18 locations, and new markets including Florida, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C. are also in the plans to be the latest additions to the brand’s growing national footprint, with an overall expansion goal of 40 open units by the end of 2023.

The in-demand brand was born of a friendly challenge between childhood friends from Astoria, Queens. Betting which of the two could make a better tasting cookie, pals Peter Phillips and Theodore Gailas realized they were both creating some inventive and delicious recipes in their efforts to top each other. A small storefront and some baking equipment followed, and with it a dream was born to share their good fortune by not only starting their own cookie business, but provide other entrepreneurs with an opportunity to start their own business with a quality product in a segment in the food industry gaining rapid popularity.

Phillips explains that their decision to create a franchising opportunity was born out of their brand mission. “Our goal is to make communities smile through the quality of our products and to make our owners and employees feel purpose in their communities,” he said

With an extensive range of flavor profiles that range from traditional Chocolate Chip to Cherry Almond Pie included in the rotating menu, every trip offers a chance to discover new favorites.

In 2022, Chip City Cookies received a $10 million investment infusion from Enlightened Hospitality Investments (EHI), the growth equity fund connected to Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG). The investment supports their goal of multi-state expansion and growth of their direct-to-consumer business, bolstered by its ship-anywhere partnership with Uber Eats. The brand also offers corporate gifting and catering capabilities. With several opportunities for revenue streams and a commitment to quality, variety, and expansion, it’s clear that Chip CIty Cookies is on the precipice of a cookie revolution!

Chip City Cookies was born in Astoria, Queens in July of 2017 as a hobby between two childhood friends who sought to recreate the simple taste of their childhood. What began as a fun challenge to see who could create the best cookie turned into the Chip City Cookies we know and love today. The brand currently has more than 15 locations across New York and New Jersey, with plans to enter into new markets, including Florida, Massachusetts, Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut.
