This location marks the first Corner Bakery Cafe in the state of Kansas. Owned and operated by Cafe Foods, Inc., franchise partners Frank Westermajer, John Myller, Steven Barrett, Ronald Damiana and Wayne Glasser plan to open a total of 11 cafes in the greater Kansas City market over the next six years. The cafe hosted an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, November 11. City Council Representative Jim Rawlings and Leawood Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Jeffries and Chairman of the Board Marnie Clawson, along with the five Café Foods, Inc. partners were in attendance. Following the ribbon cutting, two check were presented. Corner Bakery Cafe in Kansas City donated $500 to the St. Michaels Veterans Center, a comprehensive housing and support services campus in Kansas City that is currently being built to support military veterans who are homeless and/or living with disabilities, and $500 to benefit Harvesters, a local food bank that provides food and household products to agencies serving people in need.
