Popular eatery celebrates first OKC restaurant with Feb. 6 grand opening
On Monday, Feb. 6, Dallas-based Cowboy Chicken, known for its wood-fired rotisserie chicken and handmade side dishes, continues its national expansion with the opening of its first Oklahoma location at 13801 N. Pennsylvania Ave., across from the Memorial Square Shopping Center in Oklahoma City.
The Cowboy Chicken menu features all-natural, hormone-free rotisserie chickens that are hand-seasoned in store, marinated for 24 hours and then slowly roasted for two hours over a real wood-burning fire. Other dishes include signature sour cream tomatillo chicken enchiladas, abundant scratch-made sides such as Twice Baked Potaters™, Baked Mac & Cheese, Ranchero Beans and seasonal cobblers baked in-house daily.
The Oklahoma City location is the 22nd Cowboy Chicken restaurant and the first for the Southern Fired Hospitality Group, which includes local owner and operator Cody Trammell and his business partners Daniel Kessinger and Bryan Neal. Trammell, an Edmond resident, has been in the restaurant business nearly 20 years, and now he and his Southern Fired partners have secured a development agreement to open five total Oklahoma restaurants from Oklahoma City to Tulsa over the next 5 years.
“We pride ourselves on serving great tasting food in a warm and authentic ‘cowboy cool’ environment,” said Trammell. “We look forward to introducing our signature wood-fired rotisserie chicken dishes and made-from scratch sides to the Oklahoma City community and surrounding areas.”
The 2,476-square-foot restaurant, open daily 11 a.m.-9 p.m., centers on a large, wood-burning rotisserie where guests can view the chickens roasting from the rustic-meets-modern dining area with wood-style laminate floors and a custom multi-media art installation.
Guests can also eliminate waiting in line thanks to the launch of Cowboy Chicken’s all new mobile app and online ordering capabilities. In addition to dine-in counter service, the restaurant offers delivery, and can also cater large group events. Beyond the ability to order and pay online and on their phone, guests can take advantage of the Campfire Club loyalty program via the mobile app, earning rewards and much more.
A weeklong grand opening celebration with daily discounts and promotions is set for the final week of February, and will include an all-day dine-to-donate fundraiser benefiting Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma, a youth development organization.
