With gas prices rising like the temperature around the country, the Dairy Queen system has announced new and re-introduced menu additions that offer value for consumers and cool treats to beat the unseasonably warmer weather.
Available throughout April, the Dairy Queen system celebrates with a value-priced $3.99 special for its signature Chicken Strip Basket, the debut of the Caramel Delight Pie Blizzard Treat as the Blizzard of the Month and the re-introduction of Frozen Hot Chocolate.
“The menu additions in April, which will be supported by national advertising, really emphasize the duality of the Dairy Queen brand,” said Lane Schmiesing, vice president of Product & Brand Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “We are helping customers beat the prices at the pump with value propositions like our $3.99 Chicken Strip Basket and we’re offering two cool treats that are designed to beat the heat they are feeling outdoors.”
The Chicken Strip Basket is value priced for the month at $3.99 and offers white meat chicken strips with French fries and Texas toast. It’s one of the most popular items on the Dairy Queen menu.
The new Caramel Delight Pie Blizzard Treat is made with luscious caramel, rich choco chunks and flaky pie pieces blended with creamy vanilla DQ® soft serve crowned with whipped topping. It’s available in Mini, small, medium and large sizes.
Also on the menu is Frozen Hot Chocolate. Available in small, medium and large sizes, the sweet indulgence is deliciously crafted with a blend of rich cocoa fudge and DQ soft serve, blended with a choice of double fudge, caramel or peanut butter and crowned with whipped topping.
“This is just the beginning of a ‘riDQulously’ great season of food and treats that we have planned throughout the summer,” Schmiesing said. “At Dairy Queen restaurants, good isn’t good enough so we will continue to delight and surprise customers with phenomenal new food and treats at an incredible value.”
Along with the Carmel Delight Pie Blizzard Treat, many other Blizzard flavors can be made into delicious DQ Cakes, which are perfect for birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations, such as Easter.
The Dairy Queen system began blending simple combinations of candies, cookies, fruits, nuts and DQ soft serve in 1985 to create the signature Blizzard Treat. Since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as Nutter Butter, Triple Chocoholic, Midnight Truffle, Turtle Oreo, Banana Cream Pie and Double Fudge Cookie Dough have delighted Dairy Queen fans as a featured Blizzard of the Month, a program that began in 2003.
The incredible popularity of the Blizzard brand is what led the Dairy Queen system to initiate the Blizzard Fan Club in 2005 and the Dairy Queen Facebook fan page in 2008. Today, the Fan Club is 3.7 million members strong while the DQ Facebook fan page has more than 4.6 million friends.
