Dairy Queen Beats the White Snow Storms and Goes Green in March

As most of the country digs out from a particularly wicked snow filled winter, the Dairy Queen system is celebrating the dawn of spring by going green with the return of the Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat as the featured Blizzard of the Month for March.

A refreshing mix of crème de menthe topping  and Oreo cookie pieces blended with creamy DQ vanilla soft serve, the Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat is available at participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants nationwide beginning March 3.

New to the menu this year is the Mint Oreo Royal Shake, a deliciously easy to sip treat garnished with whipped topping and Oreo pieces. Dairy Queen fans can enjoy Mint Oreo Blizzard Treats in four sizes, including the popular Mini, and Royal Shakes in small, medium or large sizes.

“Our Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat has become the unofficial kick off for spring for our fans and our system,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “We continue to innovate and add to our menu and in March that means the debut of our Mint Oreo Royal Shake.”

Many Blizzard Treat flavors, including Mint Oreo, can easily be made into DQ Cakes which are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and more.

The Dairy Queen system began blending simple combinations of cookies, chocolates, nuts, candies and fruits with DQ soft serve in 1985 to create the signature Blizzard Treat. The iconic treat has created the served upside-down Blizzard culture and since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as S’mores, Chocolate Candy Shop and Confetti Cake have delighted Dairy Queen fans as part of the featured Blizzard of the Month program, which began in 2003.
