Dairy Queen restaurants are planning a spooktacular celebration of fall favorites on the menu in October with Pumpkin Pie as the Blizzard of the Month, as well as Pumpkin Pie flavored Royal Shakes and MooLatté frozen blended coffee beverages. Available at all Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants nationwide beginning Oct. 1, the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard Treat is a delectable combination of Libby’s pumpkin pie mix and flaky pie pieces blended with creamy DQ vanilla soft serve. Pumpkin pie mix also is added to DQ Royal Shakes and MooLatté beverages to give them a seasonal sparkle. All three delectable treats are crowned with fluffy whipped topping and nutmeg.
The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard Treat is available in four sizes, including the popular Mini, and Royal Shakes and MooLatté beverages are available in three sizes. All three treats are the perfect complement to the spicy DQ Chicken Strip Basket, which is available during the month of October for only $4.49. One of the most popular items on the Dairy Queen menu, the Chicken Strip Basket features white meat chicken strips with French fries and Texas toast.
“The Dairy Queen system is known for the innovation behind our treats and food and this month is a great example of that,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “Pumpkin pie is such a popular seasonal flavor that we’ve infused it into our signature treats and created an irresistible October at Dairy Queen restaurants. The new menu additions really are ‘So Good it’s RiDQulous.’”
Many Blizzard Treat flavors, including Pumpkin Pie, easily can be made into DQ Cakes, which are perfect for celebrating special events including fall tailgates, Halloween parties, birthdays and anniversaries.
The Dairy Queen system began blending simple combinations of fruits, nuts, cookies and candies with DQ soft serve in 1985 to create the signature Blizzard Treat. Since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as Triple Chocoholic, Midnight Truffle, Candy Cane Chill and Confetti Cake have delighted Dairy Queen fans as part of the featured Blizzard of the Month program, which began in 2003.
The incredible popularity of the Blizzard brand is what led the Dairy Queen system to initiate the Blizzard Fan Club in 2005 and the Dairy Queen Facebook fan page in 2008. Today, the Fan Club is 4.3 million members strong while the DQ Facebook fan page has more than 5.2 million friends.
