Dairy Queen Offers Signature Treats This Holiday Season

Candy Cane Chill Blizzard Treat Returns as December Blizzard of the Month

Dairy Queen Offers Signature Treats This Holiday SeasonNot to be outdone by the pumpkin flavor craze, Dairy Queen is bringing back its popular peppermint treat just in time for the holidays. The DQ system announced today the return of the Candy Cane Chill BlizzardTreat as the featured Blizzard of the Month for December.

Available at participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants nationwide beginning November 29 through the month of December, the Candy Cane Chill Blizzard Treat is a combination of crushed peppermint candy cane pieces and sweet choco chunks mixed with creamy DQ vanilla soft serve. This tasty and distinctive holiday treat is available in four sizes, including the popular Mini. Fans can also enjoy the Candy Cane Chill Waffle Cone Blizzard Treat and the Candy Cane Chill Royal Shake, a blend of smooth whipped topping and peppermint candy cane pieces.

“Like pumpkin in the fall, peppermint is a hot flavor in December and that’s why our Candy Cane Chill Blizzard Treat and family of treats are so popular,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “Candy Cane Chill is aptly named, particularly for harried shoppers who want a break. They can come in to their DQ restaurant and chill, literally, and enjoy a Candy Cane Chill Blizzard Treat.”

Many Blizzard Treat flavors, including the minty Candy Cane Chill, can be easily made into DQ Cakes, perfect for Christmas, Hanukah, New Year’s, birthdays, anniversaries and more.

Since 1985, the Dairy Queen system has been blending simple combinations of cookies, chocolates, nuts, fruits and candies with DQ soft serve to create the signature Blizzard Treat. The iconic treat has created the served upside-down Blizzard culture and since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as Chocolate Candy Shop and Confetti Cake have delighted Dairy Queen fans as part of the featured Blizzard of the Month program, which began in 2003.
