The Dairy Queen system is celebrating National Ice Cream Month in July with a new Blizzard Treat that will satisfy the most discriminate chocolate cravings. The new Chocolate Candy Shop Blizzard Treat is a delectable blend of assorted mini chocolates filled with hazelnut crème, fudge and caramel blended with dark, decadent cocoa fudge and creamy DQvanilla soft serve.
In addition, the Dairy Queen system also is offering a combo meal featuring the limited-time-offer Sweet Apple BBQ GrillBurger, which is layered with crisp bacon, fresh onion slices, leaf lettuce, a slice of thick-cut tomato, pepper jack cheese and topped with a sweet apple BBQ sauce that features real chunks of apple, all served on a home-style bakery bun. The Sweet Apple BBQ GrillBurger combo meal is served with French fries and a beverage.
“Nothing says summer better than ice cream and barbeque and at Dairy Queen restaurants we have it covered,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “The Chocolate Candy Shop Blizzard Treat and Sweet Apple BBQ GrillBurger are just two of the innovative new items introduced this year. With a focus on consumer value, product quality and menu variety, we are welcoming our customers in for great eats and cool treats that they won’t get anywhere else.”
Chocolate Candy Shop is available in Mini, small, medium or large Blizzard Treat sizes or can be made into a DQ Cake. Blizzard Cakes, such as the Chocolate Candy Shop as well as traditional DQ cakes, are perfect for Independence Day; National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 22; summer picnics; and other special events, such as birthdays and anniversaries.
The Dairy Queen system began blending simple combinations of candies, nuts, cookies, fruits and DQ soft serve in 1985 to create the signature Blizzard Treat. Since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as Nutter Butter, Triple Chocoholic, Midnight Truffle, Turtle Oreo, Confetti Cake and Double Fudge Cookie Dough have delighted Dairy Queen fans as part of the featured Blizzard of the Month program, which began in 2003.
The incredible popularity of the Blizzard brand is what led the Dairy Queen system to initiate the Blizzard Fan Club in 2005 and the Dairy Queen Facebook fan page in 2008. Today, the Fan Club is 3.9 million members strong while the DQ Facebook fan page has more than 4.9 million friends.
