One in five children struggles with hunger in America. This September, Salsarita’s, the Fresh Mexican Cantina, is joining thousands of restaurants nationwide to support Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign by raising funds in their restaurants. For the entire month of September, all participating restaurants will donate 25 cents each time guests purchase their Sol Lemonade.
The No Kid Hungry campaign seeks to end childhood hunger in America by connecting children with the healthy food they need, every day. Funds raised through Salsarita’s September promotion will help spread awareness about child hunger in the U.S.; create public-private partnerships that align kids with the resources they need; support nutrition programs like School Breakfast and Summer Meals; and educate kids and their families on how to cook healthy meals with limited resources. Salsarita’s is proud to support No Kid Hungry this year in restaurants across the nation, and looks forward to expanding their participation even further in the years to come.
“Everyone—private citizens, businesses, policymakers, and nonprofits—has a role in helping end childhood hunger in America,” said Billy Shore, Founder and CEO of Share Our Strength. “I encourage everyone to dine out often at participating restaurants wherever they are this September. Then visit NoKidHungry.org to join this national movement to ensure that every child in America has access to the nutritious food they need, every day.”
Founded in 2000 in Charlotte, N.C., Salsarita’s offers Mexican favorites such as signature Casaritos, Mexican pizza-inspired Cantizzas, and an assortment of tacos, quesadillas and nachos made fresh to order with an extensive selection of proteins, toppings and fillings, as well as six flavorful house-made salsas.
The growing franchise has more than 80 locations in 19 states, including seven that are company-owned. Salsarita’s expects to have 4-6 franchise agreements signed before the end of 2013, with long-range projections calling for over 300 locations nationwide over the next several years.
