Acclaimed gourmet hot dog, sausage and burger concept keeps unique small batch sausage series rolling with a Mexican staple-inspired creation for May
Dog Haus is tapping into its California roots for the next round of its Absolute Würst Sausage Series with a Mexican-inspired Pork Al Pastor Sausage appearing on its menu starting May 1.
The Pork Al Pastor Sausage is made with fresh ground hormone- and antibiotic-free pork sausage flavored with chiles, garlic, Mexican oregano and pineapple. The combination of flavors delivers the smoky sweet heat you’re used to finding at your local taqueria but encased in a gourmet sausage.
“Every month we have a new sausage inspired by our favorite foods. This month it’s the Pork Al Pastor,” said Dog Haus’ Würstmacher Adam Gertler. “We came as close to perfecting the taste of Southern California’s delicious street tacos as possible, only minus the tortilla. Because these sausages are made in small batches, you’ll be able to taste the sweetness of the pineapple and the extra kick from the chiles and Mexican oregano. I recommend getting one before they’re gone.”
Guests are invited to enjoy the Pork Al Pastor Sausage the “Würst Way” (Gertler’s recommended build) with chipotle aioli and scallions on grilled King’s Hawaiian rolls, “Your Way” with their own favorite toppings on grilled King’s Hawaiian rolls, the “Corn Dog Way” covered in Dog Haus’ signature root beer batter or “Sliced Way” which focus solely on the sausage with a side of chipotle aioli.
Tasked by Co-Founding Partner Hagop Giragossian to create a string of innovative sausages all year long, Gertler put his freshest and wildest culinary ideas to the test and is delivering a hit each month. From Nashville Hot Chicken to St. Patrick’s Day staple Corned Beef And Cabbage sausages, the Würstmacher has risen to the challenge each month, creating a new culinary masterpiece.
Dog Haus donates $1 to No Kid Hungry from every Absolute Würst Sausage Series item sold, making eating them even better. The national charity works to end childhood hunger by ensuring that kids get the food they need in a variety of ways.
A new sausage arrives each month, with each Dog Haus location receiving approximately 200 links. Fans are encouraged to buy them early and often, as they sell out quickly.

No Kid Hungry is a nonprofit organization established in 1984 with the primary mission of eradicating child hunger across America. One in six kids in the U.S. will face hunger each year, so No Kid Hungry is working to end childhood hunger through effective programs that provide kids with the food they need when they need it. The organization works with local school districts to provide students meals during the school year and summer, funds grants for food banks and community groups, and supports advocacy at the national, state and local levels to bring awareness to the issue and cut through the red tape to aid those in need. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of Share Our Strength, an organization working to end hunger and poverty.
