Another Broken Egg franchisee leveraging experience and success to grow own concepts
Lafayette-based Double R Restaurant Group has announced a plan for growth in 2016-18 that includes six new Romacelli Bistro e Vino, five POUR Restaurant and Bar and a new steakhouse concept that will complement its role as the largest franchisee of Another Broken Egg Café. The company plans to build on its experience successfully operating 25 Another Broken Egg Café locations in the southeast to further expand its portfolio of restaurants throughout the state.
“We have built a strong infrastructure and an experienced opening and operating team in the franchise world. Now, we are going to apply that talent to developing our own concepts as we continue to grow,” said Stuart Ottinger, president of Double R Restaurant Group.
Double R Restaurant Group plans to leverage its common ownership with Southern Lifestyle Development (SLD) by locating some of the new restaurants in SLD’S Traditional Neighborhood Developments (TNDs) throughout Louisiana. The company’s original high-end steakhouse concept (currently in the development phase) is planned for River Ranch and will include a lively bar with premium steaks and a vibrant atmosphere.
Romacelli Bistro e Vino is Double R’s family-friendly concept with fresh delicacies ranging from gourmet pizzas and sandwiches to pasta and salads with an Italian flare. Currently located in TNDs in Lafayette and Youngsville, Double R will also be establishing new restaurants in the following areas:

- Airline Hwy – Baton Rouge, La. – open Q2/2017
- Village at Morganfield – Lake Charles, La. – open Q2/2017
- Century Village – Monroe, La. – open Q4/2017

- The Village at Shoe Creek – Central, La. – open Q1/2018
In February 2016, Double R teamed up with Walter Hidalgo to manage and operate POUR Restaurant and Bar, the restaurant formerly known as De Gaulle Square Bistro in River Ranch. The wine bar concept provides a relaxing atmosphere for guests to enjoy drinks and sample the tapas menu. After a short renovation of the restaurant and bar, Double R plans to develop the POUR bar concept in a number of SLD’s developments in the coming years:
