Winning burger featuring Chipotle Gouda cheese, fried onions, cherry pepper relish, avocado-lime crema and shredded lettuce on Zinburger’s menu through October 11
Zinburger is adding some sweet and spice to the menu this week thanks to the El Guapo Burger, the winner of Zinburger’s fourth annual burger contest.
After hundreds of submissions and weeks of online voting, burger fans will now be able to try the El Guapo Burger ($13.50) as the featured burger of the week at all 11 east coast Zinburger locations through Sunday, October 11.
The winning burger consists of a Certified Angus Beef patty with Chipotle Gouda cheese, fried onions, cherry pepper relish, avocado-lime crema and shredded lettuce.
According to Stephanie Sauer, one of the five foodie friends who created the winning burger, a recent trip to Mexico was behind the inspiration of the El Guapo Burger.
“Mexico has some of the most explosive flavor profiles in the world. After we traveled there earlier in the year and tried Chipotle Gouda for the first time, we wanted to make sure it was the centerpiece. We also experienced fresh cherry peppers from a market in Puerto Vallarta and knew it would be a perfect fit,” said Sauer.
“Every burger needs a crunch, so the clear choice was fried onions. No one wants a burger that will have you begging for a glass of milk, so the avocado lime crema cools this burger down with every bite.”
Sauer and the other four members of the group that calls themselves SMADS, have a collective passion for creating interesting and unique recipes.
“Our love for food and what it offers goes way beyond just eating. Nothing compares to getting together, cooking, and trying new things. We love combining different, unexpected flavors to create something we’ve never experienced before.”
Besides having their winning burger featured on the Zinburger menu for one week, SMADS received a $100 gift card for its first place finish.
