Elmer’s Restaurants’ Local Presence Receives National Recognition with High Marks from Consumer Reports

Elmer’s, a group of locally owned restaurants located throughout the Pacific Northwest, is well known in the area for serving home-style cooking made with farm-fresh ingredients. Just this month, Elmer’s made the leap from local to national favorite by securing a Top 10 ranking with Consumer Reports in the category of Family Restaurants. Elmer’s received high marks on four main attributes consisting of taste, value, service and mood and were tied for fourth place in the category.

Elmer’s Restaurants was one of a total number of 102 table-service restaurants considered in the overall ranking report, created by surveying 47,565 readers who ate a total of 110,517 qualifying meals. Elmer’s received special attention in the report, being singled out as one of just nine restaurants that earned especially high marks in all restaurant categories for all of the attributes in the Consumer Reports Ratings. These included menu variety, cleanliness and lack of noise in addition to the above; making Elmer’s® the only local restaurant to receive this high level of acknowledgement from consumers.

When asked the secret to their success, Elmer’s Restaurants’ CEO Jerry Scott described their dedication to guest service, with a focus on employing personable, gracious and genuine people combined with building their menu around fresh Northwest ingredients. “We need to provide great food to get in the game, and excellent customer service to stay there.” Elmer’s employs many long term team members, some serving guests for more than two decades. A handful of Elmer’s employees have even turned into local owners.

Having never been previously recognized by Consumer Reports, Elmer’s staff are thrilled, but will carry on as they have before. “Our goal is to dazzle each and every guest who visits our locations, and that will stay the same,” added Scott. From the restaurants included in the Top 10 from Consumer Reports list, Elmer’s is the only local restaurant to serve all day long – breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition to caring for their restaurant patrons, Elmer’s invests in the community wherever they can. Elmer’s makes it a priority to care for their community by reaching out to families, children and homeless people who are hurting and hungry.

Since 1960, Elmer’s has been providing quality food ingredients and gracious service that make you feel at home. As a group of locally owned restaurants, there are now 25 locations throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California where patrons enjoy farm-fresh, Northwest ingredients including Tillamook Cheese, Rogue Blue Cheese, Zenner Sausages and Oregon Hazelnuts. Elmer’s takes pride in their surrounding communities and strives to be the restaurant of choice for families.
