First Watch to Donate Portion of Kids’ Meal Sales for a Year to Help End Childhood Hunger in America

Award-winning Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch restaurant First Watch today announced a yearlong campaign to raise $50,000 for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign by donating 25 cents from every kids’ meal purchased.

The announcement coincides with Share Our Strength’s Dine Out for No Kid Hungry program, which runs now through Sept. 22. Funds raised by First Watch, together with thousands of restaurants and millions of consumers nationwide, will enable Share Our Strength to support more than 300 organizations in America, with the goal to end childhood hunger in America by 2015.

“First Watch is committed to helping Share Our Strength achieve its goal to end childhood hunger in America,” said Chris Tomasso, chief marketing officer for First Watch. “With the contributions made from each kids’ meal purchased at First Watch, it’s empowering to know that just one kid’s meal today could mean no child hungry tomorrow.”

First Watch has partnered with Share Our Strength’s Dine Out for No Kid Hungry since 2009 and has donated more than $42,000 to the cause. This year, by expanding the support from a week to a full year, First Watch is committed to raising $50,000 for the No Kid Hungry campaign. Last year, more than 5,500 restaurants partnered with Share Our Strength to raise nearly $2.4 million.

The restaurant also announced today the rollout of its new, interactive kids’ menu in cooperation with the National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell program. First Watch is known for its fresh, healthy approach to Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch, and its kids’ menu is no exception with choices that emphasize lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy. Its kids’ menu offerings are now being recognized for featuring items that meet qualifying nutrition criteria based on leading health organizations’ scientific recommendations, including the 2010 USDA Dietary Guidelines.
