Local Resident becomes published author and helps others to improve their customer service levels.
Gulfport Resident and Hospitality expert James L. Poling has published a valuable resource for service professionals titled The Waiter’s Tips.
Poling has thirty years plus experience in all aspects of the food and beverage industry. After relocating to the West Coast of Florida with his family in 2009, he decided to go back to his roots of delivering very personal customer service tableside. Prior to that Poling had managed everything from fast food restaurants to exclusive country clubs and at one point managed fourteen contract food service accounts for Ford Motor Company in Detroit.
While working as a waiter at numerous fine dining restaurants as well as the popular seafood restaurant Snappers on St. Pete Beach, Poling would describe the delectable way the menu foods were prepared while being told time and again by his customers that he had given them the best service that they had ever received. It was due to their urging and his desire to share valuable tips that would help to improve the service levels of others in the industry that Poling decided to write a comprehensive self-help book on customer service.
There are plans for Poling to partner with other hospitality industry professionals to begin giving educational seminars on how to improve service in their operations.
It is his belief that everyone in the service industry can and should view their positions as a professional vocation and always deliver the best of themselves to others.
