Freddy’s has grown to ten locations in the San Antonio area with today’s opening at 5415 W. Loop 1604 near Sea World.
Freddy’s first arrived in Texas in early 2006 with its location on Interstate 35 at the Olympia Parkway exit to the Forum Shopping Center in Selma. “We appreciate our guests and hope to consistently provide the food they love and the exceptional service that they’ve come to expect at Freddy’s. Freddy’s fans are the reason for our growth and we look forward to continuing the tradition with freshly-prepared, cooked-to-order steakburgers, piping hot crispy fries, desserts to write home about and second-to-none hospitality,” commented franchise operator James Oberg.
The first Texas store mentioned above was the sixth in the young chain. The newest Freddy’s brings the nationwide total to 69. The 19 Texas locations include recently-opened restaurants in Houston and Bryan/College Station. Additional sites are under construction in Killeen and Austin with openings scheduled for the latter half of the year.
“The Freddy’s model is founded on core values that work everywhere and Texas is no exception. We all appreciate high-quality food served in a clean and welcoming environment,” remarked Freddy’s COO Scott Redler. “We have a great appreciation for the fact that our guests choose Freddy’s to celebrate a win on the football field or get together and reconnect with their family over dinner. It’s a special place and we look forward to seeing you there for a dish of creamy frozen custard.”
Co-founded by Scott Redler and Bill, Randy and Freddy Simon, Freddy’s opened its first location on west 21st Street in Wichita during 2002, offering a unique combination of cooked-to-order steakburgers, Chicago dogs, and other savory items along with its signature desserts prepared with premium frozen custard made fresh throughout the day in each store. Freddy’s founders operate six locations in the Wichita Metro area and two in the Kansas City market. Sixty franchise units serve other areas of Kansas and Missouri as well as Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. In 2012, Freddy’s was included in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 and QSR Magazine’s 10 Best Franchise Deals. Freddy’s has also been listed as the Fifth Fastest Growing Chain Restaurant in the United States and Canada by Chain Store Guide, a sister publication to Nation’s Restaurant News. Recently, Freddy’s was recognized by Technomics as the 5th fastest growing burger concept in the country. In the local community of the company’s founding, Freddy’s is a recipient of the 2011 Best in Business Award from the Wichita Business Journal and has repeatedly won first place Readers’ Choice Awards in multiple categories from the Wichita Eagle.
