Football fans, country music lovers invited to kickoff the weekend in style Oct. 9
Thousands of college football fans will be converging on Dallas from points north and south for the annual clash between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners.
Uptown Dallas’ favorite live music and dining venue, The Rustic, is welcoming football and country music fans alike to enjoy an evening with legendary singer-songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker on Friday, Oct. 9, before the big game.
Jerry Jeff Walker is a Texas country music icon and a major influence of Pat Green, country music star and co-owner of The Rustic. Walker’s chart-topping hits include “Mr. Bojangles,” “L.A. Freeway,” “Sangria Wine” and “Getting By.”
“There are lots of places to go in Dallas to get your head right for the Red River Showdown, but you won’t find a better show than Jerry Jeff Walker at The Rustic,” said Kyle Noonan, co-founder and owner of FreeRange Concepts, which operates The Rustic and other innovative restaurant concepts. “It’s a big party weekend in Dallas, so we’re bringing in the big guns.”
Walker’s son, country artist Django Walker, will be the special opening act. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Advance general admission tickets are just $25 for the first 1,000 sold, $35 for the next 1,000 and $40 day-of show. Tickets may be purchased at therustic.com/event/jerryjeff.
“Jerry Jeff is a true country music legend and he still puts on an amazing show,” said Josh Sepkowitz, Noonan’s business partner. “Whether you’re sporting burnt orange or crimson and cream, The Rustic is the place to be on Friday night.”
And if you’re not heading out to the Cotton Bowl, be sure to come back to The Rustic to watch the game on a jumbo screen. The Rustic’s popular Jam & Toast family-style brunch will start early on Saturday – 9:30 a.m. – for pre-game dining and socializing.
With its casual atmosphere, live musical acts and unique, full-service dining experience featuring farm-fresh, homestyle dishes and a Texas-sized selection of wines, spirits and 40 beers on tap, The Rustic has carved a distinctive niche among Dallas restaurants. The concept is the brainchild of Noonan, Sepkowitz and Texas country artist Pat Green, whose love of the outdoors and live music helped bring The Rustic to life. The result is a fun and relaxing concert and dining experience from a phenomenal patio, all under the big Texas sky.
The Rustic is located at 3656 Howell Street in Dallas.
