Charlotte-based Hot Dog King Creates Holiday Masterpiece with Mac & Cheese, Cowboy Beans and Onions, Only $2 All Week
JJ’s Red Hots has created its own version of fireworks in celebration of the brand’s two-year anniversary on July 4th.
The Charlotte-based Hot Dog King, which recently won its second Voters’ Choice Best of the Best award from Charlotte Magazine, will feature The Mac Daddy, a virtual Fourth of July picnic on a premium Hot Dog, with Mac & Cheese, Cowboy Beans and Onions, specially priced at $2 all week at JJ’s two locations in Charlotte, Dilworth and Ballantyne.
“Anniversaries can be boring unless you know how to have a little fun, and JJ’s is all about fun,” said JJ’s owner and founder Jonathan Luther. “It’s been a wonderful first two years here and we are excited about the future of our world-class brand. But what matters most are our Hot Dogs, and we feel we’ve built a masterpiece, worthy not only of our anniversary but for America’s Independence Day as well.”
The Mac Daddy is part of JJ’s popular Dog of the Week program, which features specially designed and priced Hot Dogs, beginning each Monday. The promotion has been covered widely by the brand’s hometown Charlotte media and was even the subject of a USA Today article.
“We’re very excited about our anniversary, especially because we get to do something special for our wonderfully loyal guests,” said JJ’s director of marketing and brand development Brandy Newton. “It’s a milestone for us, for sure, but we’re stoked to have topped ourselves with this terrific holiday Hot Dog.”
JJ’s, which regularly nabs ‘Best Hot Dog in Charlotte’ awards, raised some national eyebrows recently when it made Fast Casual’s 2014 Top 100 Movers & Shakers list. JJ’s, the smallest and youngest brand on the list, is the only Charlotte-based brand and the only Hot Dog/Sausage concept to make the list.
JJ’s Red Hots is the premier purveyor of “hand-crafted” char-grilled hot dogs and sausages in the Charlotte metropolitan area. The restaurant concept is built on solid, hardworking values and is modeled after venerable establishments like Ted’s in Buffalo, NY, Gene and Jude’s in Chicago, and many others. Still, JJ’s is a true American original featuring house-made, scratch prepared sides and toppings served alongside time tested, revered American brands like Tabasco, Weber’s Mustard, Martin’s Rolls, Coca-Cola and Mt. Olive Pickles. Perhaps most proudly, JJ’s Red Hots serves smokehouse hot dogs from Sahlen’s Meat Packing Company in Buffalo, NY. Sahlen’s is a 143 year-old company that remains family owned and operated, and makes, in our opinion, the best hot dogs in the world.
