Charlotte’s Hot Dog King Elects Charlotte Food Adventures, Yelp Charlotte, Queen City Chic and CLT Five to Help Drive its Vote 2016 Campaign
With the first debate in the bag and Election Day just weeks away, JJ’s Red Hots is saying “Just Trust Your Gut” with its Vote 2016 campaign which may not determine America’s next president but will choose Charlotte’s next great Hot Dog.
With the help from Charlotte Food Adventures, Yelp Charlotte, Queen City Chic and CLT Five, the Charlotte-based Hot Dog King will feature five Hot Dogs created by the respective local social media celebrities as part of its popular Dog of the Week program that features specially designed and priced Hot Dogs beginning each Monday.
Beginning October 3 through October 30, JJ’s guests will have the opportunity to choose from the following culinary masterpieces – all priced at $4.99 – in order to determine the true Hot Dog royalty in The Queen City. In this campaign, sales equals votes:
October 3 – 9: Charlotte Food Adventures Dog, featuring Italian sausage, shredded mozzarella, pancetta and roasted garlic pesto
October 10 – 16: Yelp Charlotte Dog “Fall Into Oktoberfest” featuring a jumbo all-beef Hot Dog on a pretzel bun with beer Queso, sauerkraut, mustard and sweet Sautéed onions
October 17 – 23: Queen City Chic Dog featuring a Sahlen’s char-grilled Hot Dog with iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese, chopped pickles, diced onion and special sauce
October 23 – 30: CLT Five Herbivore (with roasted carrot, Thai Chile sauce, onions & peppers, cilantro, Sriracha mayo and crushed peanuts) and CLT Five Carnivore (JJ’s signature Hot Dog with chili, Cole Slaw, mustard and a fried pickle spear
“Given the choices his year, we felt like we needed to give Americans something tasteful to vote for, because we care about our children’s culinary futures. As we like to say, ‘Ask not what you can do for your hot dog. Ask what your hot dog can do for you!’,” said JJ’s proprietor and founder, Jonathan Luther. ‘Our candidates for Vote JJ’s 2016 have created several culinary masterpieces that we know our valued guests will enjoy.”
“Hey, this isn’t an issue of national security, we just make Hot Dogs and some damn good ones,” said Brandy Newton, JJ’s director of marketing and brand development, “You won’t need any fact checking for that.”
JJ’s recently celebrated the four-year anniversary of its Dilworth location in Charlotte and its three-year anniversary for its restaurant in Ballantyne. The brand has been on an all-out winning streak since its inception in 2012. The brand raised national eyebrows for two years running by being honored by Fast Casual in its annual Top 100 Movers & Shakers list. JJ’s is the smallest chain to ever make the list and the only Hot Dog/Sausage concept to receive the honor. JJ’s also swept all of Charlotte’s Best Hot Dog awards in 2015 including the Charlotte Observer’s Readers’ Choice Best of Charlotte 2015 award for Best Hot Dog, And JJ’s ‘Char Heel’ dog won Charlotte Magazine’s BOB award for Best Southern Hot Dog.
Most recently, JJ’s was named by Tabelog as One of The 10 Most Unique Hotdog Joints in America and was cited by Spoon University as The 50 Best Foods to Eat in Charlotte Before You Die and as one of 10 Hot Dog Joints Across the State by North Carolina’s Our State magazine.
JJ’s Red Hots is the premier purveyor of “hand-crafted” char-grilled hot dogs and sausages with two locations and several portable vehicles in the Charlotte metropolitan area. The restaurant concept is built on solid, hardworking values and is modeled after venerable establishments like Ted’s in Buffalo, NY, Gene and Jude’s in Chicago, and many others. Still, JJ’s is a true American original featuring house-made, scratch prepared sides and toppings served alongside time tested, revered American brands like Weber’s Mustard, Martin’s Rolls, and Coca-Cola. Perhaps most proudly, JJ’s Red Hots serves smokehouse hot dogs from Sahlen’s Meat Packing Company in Buffalo, NY. Sahlen’s is a 146-year-old company that remains family owned and operated, and makes, in our opinion, the best hot dogs in the world.
