Johnny Rockets has announced a franchise agreement with restaurant entrepreneur Antonio Augusto Ribeiro de Souza to open thirty restaurants in Brazil. This news follows recent announcements of the chain’s new franchise agreements in Peru and Ecuador, as well as the opening of their second restaurant in Chile and their first – the world’s largest – in the Dominican Republic.
President of Johnny Rockets International Division, Steve Devine, stated, “It is our goal to open restaurants in active, thriving communities throughout South America. We believe there are many centers and venues that are conducive to the fun and excitement Johnny Rockets brings. In fact, all of the ingredients for a successful partnership are already present in Brazil. We have the fifth most populated country, plus an insatiable taste for American hamburgers – and it’s all seasoned with a franchisee that has really solid industry experience.”
With more than 20 years in the food service industry, Augusto is no stranger to the quick service restaurant arena. A former McDonald’s franchisee, Augusto has created and operated numerous operations and concepts in Brazil, and currently operates Well’s restaurants in Sao Paulo. He plans to open his first Johnny Rockets restaurant in Sao Paulo in late 2012 or early 2013, with additional locations soon to follow.
“In Brazil, as in other South American countries, family comes first,” said Augusto. “There’s nothing better than spending quality time over lunch or dinner, and Johnny Rockets offers a unique way for parents and children to enjoy a delicious meal – and have fun at the same time. We’re committed to offering our Guests a special all-American dining experience that will bring a smile to their faces – and have them coming back for more!”
Johnny Rockets is an international all-American restaurant chain that offers its unique brand of fun which includes signature menu items, dancing servers, an open kitchen and music hits from the past eighty years. In sixteen countries around the world, it is the place to go for friendly service, flavorful food, uplifting music and relaxed, casual fun. The menu includes Hamburgers, hand-spun Shakes, and American Fries served with their trademark ketchup smiley face. Joining them in Brazil will be a Picanha Hamburger, new salad options and special dessert items to reflect the country’s rich culture and culinary preferences.
“With more than 205 million residents – nearly 20 million in Sao Paulo alone – Brazil represents a tremendous audience for Johnny Rockets,” said Devine. “As the world’s seventh largest economy in terms of GDP, Brazil boasts a robust economy, high consumer confidence and a palate primed for great-tasting American food. The timing couldn’t be better for us to enter this growth market with our unique all-American dining experience.”
