Leading Revolving Sushi Chain Has Opened Its Second Restaurant in Illinois
Kura Sushi USA, Inc., a leading technology-enabled Japanese restaurant concept serving authentic cuisine through an engaging revolving sushi service model, has officially opened doors at its new restaurant in Oak Brook, Illinois. Marking the 45th Kura Revolving Sushi Bar location in the United States and second in the state of Illinois, the new restaurant is located at The Overlook at Oak Brook. To celebrate the opening, the first 50 dine-in guests from February 16 through 18 will receive a “My Hero Academia x Kura Sushi collaboration” T-shirt.
“We are thrilled to further expand our presence in the greater Chicago region with the opening of our new Oak Brook location,” said Hitomi Vinciguerra, Director of Public Relations & Marketing at Kura Sushi USA. “Committed to providing our guests with a tech-infused eater-tainment experience that includes robots, prizes and a revolving sushi bar, we are confident that the local Oak Brook community will find Kura Sushi to be a go-to destination for both authentic Japanese sushi and fun.”
Offering more than 130 fresh and delicious dishes free of artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives, and colorings, the menu features a wide range of nigiri, rolls, noodle dishes and desserts, as well as an ever-changing selection of limited-time options introduced each month, referred to as Kura’s Monthly Discoveries. In addition to serving high-quality food prepared with authenticity in mind, a pinnacle of the Kura Sushi “eater-tainment” experience is its unique convergence of human and tech-powered service. Guests can select sushi plates from the revolving sushi bar that circulates throughout the restaurant and place food and drink orders from the touch panel tablet located at each table. Once the kitchen staff prepares the order by-hand, dishes zip down the top layer express belt – also known as the “sushi highway” – directly to the table. Further expanding the brand’s tech-focused dining experience, Kur-B the KuraBot was recently implemented across all Kura Sushi U.S. locations to assist waitstaff by delivering drink orders tableside.
Kura Sushi’s Bikkura Pon Prize System is another integral part of its interactive and tech-driven “eater-tainment” dining experience. The system is comprised of a prize machine, touch panel and plate disposal slot located at every table. Connected via sensors, the touch panel registers the number of plates dispensed into the plate disposal slot. For every five plates inserted, a short animation plays on the touch panel and for every fifteen plates inserted, a prize is dispensed from the prize machine. Kura is currently partnered with popular manga and anime series, My Hero Academia for its “My Hero Academia x Kura Sushi Bikkura Pon Collaboration,” which offers limited-time can badges, lanyard, and acrylic key chains featuring the series’ beloved characters.
The new Oak Brook restaurant is located at 1755 22nd St, Unit C, Oak Brook, IL 60523, and has special opening hours from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. through February 18.
