On Thursday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m., Slidell will become home to the newest Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Louisiana. Known for slow smoked, family friendly barbecue, free soft serve and Kid’s Eat Free on Sundays, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is hosting a 3-day party to celebrate the new location. The first 50 customers will receive a gift card for up to $50.
Friday, radio station 101.1 WNOE will be onsite from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m and this location will be serving $2 Pulled Pork Big Barbecue sandwiches. Also, one lucky winner will be chosen for a $500 gift card and three guests will win free barbecue for an entire year. Saturday, the party continues with all day merchandise giveaways.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of the community at our first location and we knew we needed to open a new location for our guests who make the drive in from Slidell,” said local franchise owner Alex Hill, who owns this location along with his wife Lindsay. “We believe in families. In Covington we serve over 125 Kids Free every Sunday and we look forward to meeting the children from East St. Tammany Parish and other communities that we will serve each Sunday.”
The Hills also own the Dickey’s Barbecue in Convington and were recently awarded Best Bang for the Buck by readers of Sophisticated Woman.
“We love catering,” said Hill. “Our vans and trucks are always on the go, in offices, in homes, always winning new friends along the way. We look forward to delivering to folks in East St. Tammany Parish and perhaps even further.”

Dickey’s Barbecue was founded by Travis Dickey with the goal of authentic slow smoked barbecue. More than 72 years later, the Dallas-based family-run barbecue franchise still offers a quality selection of signature meats, home style sides, tangy barbecue sauce and free kids meals every Sunday. All meats are slow smoked onsite in each restaurant. The fast-casual family-friendly concept has expanded to almost 400 locations in 42 states and holds the title of the world’s largest barbecue franchise. This year Technomic named Dickey’s “Fastest-growing restaurant in the country” and they were also named “Best Franchise Deal” by QSR Magazine.
