Luby’s Fuddruckers Restaurants, LLC, which operates restaurants under the Luby’s and Fuddruckers brands, debuted its new development concept last week featuring a side-by-side Luby’s Cafeteria and Fuddruckers fast casual restaurant. Located at 11023 Shadow Creek Parkway in Pearland, TX, a fast-growing suburban community just south of Houston and the company’s headquarters, the free-standing structure encompasses approximately 12,000 square feet. Construction began in February 2012.
Now in its 65th year, Luby’s occupies about 8,500 square feet of the building, while Fuddruckers brings a new home for the World’s Greatest Hamburgers and signature Build Your Own market fresh produce bar to approximately 2,500 square feet of space. Both the interiors and exteriors feature the brands’ newest design schemes with the Fuddruckers unit borrowing heavily from a modified plan developed for the recently debuted Spring, TX store. The hybrid also features a 460-square-foot patio that can be accessed from the two dining rooms.
According to COO Peter Tropoli, “Fuddruckers and Luby’s nicely complement each other in Pearland. Bringing our two brands together is a natural evolution and creates additional convenience and benefits for our customers as well as development synergies. Our new prototype presents a dilemma for our guests; we’re curious to see how they will be able to choose between our brands. Fuddruckers and their fresh-never frozen, 100% premium cut beef burger on a scratch-baked bun or Luby’s made-from-scratch classic such as our tender Haddock fillet coated in our signature cracker crumb breading and deep fried until golden brown. Whatever the choice may be, we have something that is sure to please everyone.”
The prototype debuted in July 2011 when a 1,500-square-foot Fuddruckers was carved out of the takeout area at a freestanding, 12,200-square-foot Luby’s on Houston’s east side. Additional locations are planned throughout Texas.
