Funds Will Be Donated Directly to Local Food Banks in California, Arizona and Nevada
Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, the family-owned restaurant brand featuring an authentic, award-winning Southern-inspired menu at 21 restaurants in California, Nevada and Arizona, raised more than $10,000 in September for food banks in the communities it serves. The fundraising campaign was created to support Hunger Action Month, created by Feeding America, a nonprofit organization on a mission to advance change in America by ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all. With each $1 donation (equating to four meals), the $10,000 raised means they are able to sponsor 40,000 meals to those experiencing hunger and food insecurity.
Lucille’s held several impactful fundraising initiatives throughout the month, engaging its loyal guests and team members to raise funds that will help alleviate food insecurity, which is increasing across the country due to a multitude of socio-economic issues including inflation and rising food costs.
Those fundraising initiatives included a donation of $1 to local food banks for every Pumpkin Crunch Pudding ordered, and a campaign through Round It Up America encouraging guests to round up their checks online and in restaurants.
Additionally, on September 20, which Lucille’s designated as a “Day of Giving,” all dine-in guests received a $10 bounceback coupon when they purchased a special Chicken Shack Plate with 100% of proceeds going to local food banks. The Chicken Shack Plate, available only for dine-in guests on September 20, included two pieces of Lucille’s Famous Fried Chicken, Texas Caviar, Pumpkin Crunch Pudding and Lucille’s Sidewalk Lemonade for $8.99.
Lucille’s also brought its “Lucille’s Chicken Shack” food truck to its restaurant in Tustin, California, where guests were able to order the Chicken Shack Plate, enjoy live music and spin to win prizes, including free Lucille’s merchandise, Lucille’s popular BBQ sauce, gift cards and more.
“It’s truly inspiring to see the community come together to help alleviate the escalating rates of food insecurity,” said Joan Hansen, vice president of marketing at Hofman Hospitality Group, the family-owned parent company of Lucille’s. “We are so proud of our guests and team members for embracing this Hunger Action Month fundraising effort, and we look forward to continued collaboration to combat one of the most critical issues facing our communities today.”
