Asian Flex-Casual Concept Opens First of Eighteen Restaurants Coming to Houston

As the national growth of the fast-casual Asian food segment continues to sizzle, Mama Fu’s Asian House is feeding the demand in Houston for freshly prepared Asian cuisine with 18 openings in the next 10 years, the first of which will open on November 20th at 1574 W. Gray Street in Houston.

Introducing Mama Fu’s to Houston and leading the expansion plans throughout the greater area is entrepreneur and restaurateur, Stephen Chappelear, founder and owner of Schapp’s MF Holdings, LLC. With over 15 years of industry experience, Chappelear made a name for himself introducing and growing the Buffalo Wild Wings brand in Houston. Expanding his portfolio, Chappelear signed the largest development deal with Mama Fu’s to date, opening 18 restaurants in the greater Houston area.

“Steve has impressive industry experience and has called Houston home for nearly 20 years, so he knows both sides of the market,” said Randy Murphy, President and CEO of Mama Fu’s. “We’ve experienced warm welcomes in markets throughout Texas and we are excited to open our first Houston location. Steve has been an outstanding partner and we look forward to his continued growth and success.”

Mama Fu’s offers guests convenience, value and unique flavors with its high quality, made-to-order Asian-inspired food, including the MenuMasters award-winning Banh mi sandwich. With a contemporary and user-friendly menu that allows guests to navigate their options more easily, guests can choose between a rice dish or noodle bowl, as well as their protein of choice, from a selection of Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean menu options.

More health-conscious guests can order a Steam Bowl or salad, or have their protein steamed, a cooking method that reduces oils and starch. For a more exclusive look at menu options and perks, Mama Fu’s offers a popular rewards program to customers, known as the “Funatics Club,” which offers exclusive deals to club members and keeps guests coming back to enjoy the Mama Fu’s experience.

“As the only Asian-inspired concept that offers the contemporary flex-casual dining option, Mama Fu’s has incredible potential in the market and I have no doubt that it will be well-received and successful throughout Houston,” said Chappelear. “I’m excited to introduce another new brand to the local market and look forward to growing the locations as we continue to see increased demand for the concept.”

Houston’s Mama Fu’s location on Gray Street opening November 20, 2013 will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30am – 9:00pm and Friday through Saturday from 10:30am – 10:00pm.
