The Bay Area-Based Concept Secures Campbell, Los Gatos & Mill Valley Storefronts to Open this Summer 2022
Local Kitchens, the pioneering micro food hall offering a diverse mix of award-winning restaurants under one roof, has announced plans to open three new locations in the Bay Area as part of its Northern California expansion. The new locations mark the concepts’ eighth, ninth and tenth locations. Scheduled to open in June 2022, the Los Gatos kitchen will be located at 681 Blossom Hill Rd, the Campbell kitchen will be located at 1640 S Bascom Ave A. within the Hamilton Shopping Center, and the Mill Valley kitchen will be at 741 East Blithedale Ave.
Local Kitchen was founded by CEO Jon Goldsmith and COO Andrew Munday, both of whom are former Doordash colleagues, and CTO Jordan Bramble. The entrepreneurs set out to transform the food hall experience into a convenient and compact store, allowing guests to mix and match cuisines from different restaurant concepts in a single order for dine in, takeout, and delivery. Each new location will feature 5-10 local concepts and offer convenient online and mobile ordering, paired with fast and friendly service.
Local Kitchens currently operates five locations in the Bay Area: Palo Alto, Mountain View, Cupertino, Lafayette and San Jose; and one location in the Sacramento area, in Roseville, CA with plans to open in Davis, CA in May 2022.
“We are so excited to be joining the Campbell, Los Gatos and Mill Valley communities, and can’t wait to bring exciting local brands to these areas in an accessible format!” said Jon Goldsmith, CEO and Co-founder of Local Kitchens. “We are confident that Local Kitchens will be complementary to the dining options available to these community members – both in terms of our wide variety of cuisines and convenience.”
Since Local Kitchens launched in Summer 2020, the concept has raised $28 million through investors; of which $25 million has come from Series A funding led by General Catalyst with support from existing investors Human Capital and Pear VC. New investors include Fifth Wall and Penny Jar Capital, an early stage venture firm backed by Stephen Curry. Local Kitchens entered 2022 with a plan for expansion throughout Northern and Southern California. Locations in Campbell, Los Gatos and Mill Valley CA will open in summer 2022.
