Bay Area’s third bakery café is latest to open as part of 18-store agreement with Rouse Properties
It’s a childhood staple that’s as American as apple pie, and its mouthwatering aroma has an uncanny way of triggering memories instilled by generations of mothers and grandmothers who know what it means to bake with love.
Fortunately, children of all ages can now relive their warm memories of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven at the Southland Mall, the premier shopping and social destination in Hayward, thanks to the arrival of a new Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip. The popular bakery café officially opened its doors on Thursday, July 9, in the mall’s center court, near Macy’s, JC Penney and Sears.
Franchisees Samira Irshad and Abdulla Chashmawala have been looking forward to this grand opening for a long time.
“This is our first experience with Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip, and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve shoppers and others at the Southland Mall,” said Irshad. “We know that everyone loves Nestlé Toll House cookies and cookie cakes, and our specialty coffees and other treats are equally tasty. We hope people come to see our café as an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.”
By the end of July, they will open a second café in the area at NewPark Mall, in Newark, California, which is currently undergoing a comprehensive repositioning that will transform the mall into one of the East Bay’s leading retail, entertainment and dining destinations.
The Southland Mall café is an enhanced kiosk that includes comfortable seating, digital menus displayed on eight LED screens and an upgraded design that features the brand’s distinctive product offerings in a more efficient and attractive manner. Seating is also available around the kiosk.
The premium dessert destination concept is built around the world’s most powerful food brand – Nestlé. Along with its universally loved Nestlé Toll House cookies and cookie cakes, the new café serves brownies, muffins, smoothies, ice creams, cold drinks and specialty Nescafé Milano coffees. The café is also a great snack option thanks to its sweet, made-to-order crepes.
The Southland Mall location is the 16th of 18 new cafés projected to open under a long-term master lease agreement signed in October 2013 with Rouse Properties (NYSE: RSE), a national owner and operator of regional enclosed malls.
Located at One Southland Mall Drive, the café is the 14th café in California and the 145th Nestlé Toll House Café system-wide. The café is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
