New Combined-Concept Johnny Rockets Restaurant Opens In East Harlem

Johnny Rockets has opened a new 1,250-square-foot restaurant at East River Plaza in East Harlem.  The location joins approximately 20 other New York City-area Johnny Rockets restaurants, including four at Yankee Stadium and a location at South Street Seaport – which opened on the company’s 25thanniversary last June.

A unique combined-concept venue, Johnny Rockets partnered with Kafeteria Eatery and Sports Bar to offer guests a variety of family-friendly dining and entertainment options. With seating for 85-120 Guests inside and outside, Johnny Rockets shares seating space on the upper level with the sports bar, while Kafeteria’s full-service deli is located on the lower level.  To further support the community’s revitalization efforts, many of Johnny Rockets’ employees were hired through East Harlem-based STRIVE to give motivated members of at-risk populations an opportunity to succeed in the workplace and in society.

The new East River Plaza restaurant boasts contemporary architectural elements from the company’s new design prototype unveiled earlier this year. “Like the city, our new restaurant is sleek, sophisticated and edgy,” explains Johnny Rockets franchise partner Craig Sheikowitz, who previously managed Johnny Rockets restaurants in North Charleston, SC, and Hicksville and Deer Park, NY. “With its vibrant colors, streamlined footprint, and liberal use of chrome, it fits beautifully into this thriving, family-focused community.”

“We are excited to have Craig open another Johnny Rockets restaurant in New York, especially in such a high-traffic location,” adds John Fuller, CEO of Johnny Rockets. “Through the years, he has shown a great passion for our brand, and we are proud to have him as a franchise partner.”

In addition to Johnny Rockets signature menu items, the new restaurant offers appetizers specifically geared to New Yorkers’ unique taste preferences. Fried Pickle Spears with Ranch, All-American Sliders, Fried Mac and Cheese Wedges, Rocket Nachos, and Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara join the Hamburgers, American Fries, Shakes and Sandwiches that have made Johnny Rockets such a popular dining destination for more than 26 years.

The new Johnny Rockets East River Plaza restaurant is located at 505 E. 116th Street (212/831-2238) and is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Guests in a hurry can purchase food at the to-go window on the ground level, while those with a bit more time can enjoy their meals in the dining area on the second floor.
