“In The Weeds,” the twice-weekly cartoon dedicated to the food service industry is now featured on the Foodservice Radio™ website at www.foodserviceradio.net.
“The restaurant industry is ripe with material for cartoons,” says Foodservice Radio station manager Bob Ryals. “We have not been lacking for ideas. There are so many shared experiences in food service and it is fun bringing them to life in cartoon form.”
The cartoon originally debuted on the Foodservice Radio Facebook page and was so well received it will now be a permanent feature on the station website. “In The Weeds” features several recurring characters including Chef, Stacy the Waitress, Ray the beleaguered owner and a host of distributors, suppliers and guests.
“Including the cartoon on the website provides a nice complement to radio station,” Ryals adds. “We broke new ground by creating the first 24-hour streaming internet radio station featuring food service news, information and advice. The cartoon is another unique way to inform and entertain our listeners.”
“In The Weeds” is created using unique 3-D technology in the virtual world of Second Life. “Utilizing Second Life has allowed us to create several virtual restaurant sets for the cartoon. It enables us to provide rich detail not seen in traditional cartoons,” says Ryals.
The cartoon is being created for the entire food service community so media outlets and bloggers are free to share and repost “In The Weeds” in its full, original form.
