Cambridge, MA – Bar Enza
Michelin-starred chef Mark R. Ladner plans to return to where his distinguished culinary career began by opening an Italian restaurant called Bar Enza in Harvard Square this September. Bar Enza will be located in the Charles Hotel, at 1 Bennett Street, in a space that previously housed two other Italian restaurants, Rialto and Benedetto, which closed in 2016 and this past April, respectively.

Linden, NJ – Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers
A fast-casual restaurant, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, will open its first location in New Jersey this month in Linden, according to real estate firm CBRE. The firm said in a news release that Freddy’s, based in Kansas, has signed a pad lease for a 3,200-square-foot building and double drive-thru at Legacy Square, a new open-air shopping center at 1000 W. Edgar Road.

Springfield, MO – Tabak Co.
Two Springfield natives are opening a combination cigar shop and whiskey bar in the downtown location that once housed Falstaff’s Local. Military veterans Cody Hutchison and Brian Cubic plan to open Tabak Co. later this summer at 311 Park Central West just off the square. The owners say Tabak Co. will offer cigars, alcohol, food and coffee. The exact menu is still being developed.

Newport, RI – Marco’s Café
The future home of a new breakfast and sandwich shop in the city sits empty on Spring Street, though it’s ready to open for the summer — as soon as the owner can find employees to work there. “I think Newport needs a local sandwich shop,” said owner Marco Polselli. “I think I can do good down there having a little tiny cafe-style place with breakfast and lunch options.”

Jacksonville, FL – Fizzies & Fare
First Coast Foodies with an insatiable sweet tooth, get ready for a new restaurant concept coming soon to Sweet Pete’s in Downtown Jacksonville. Fizzies & Fare is a new restaurant featuring light bites, a soda shop, ice cream parlor and beer and wine bar, set to open in mid-July.

West Nyack, NY – Red Crab Seafood
Red Crab Seafood will open its third location in New York at the Palisades Center this fall. It specializes in a mix-and-match Cajun seafood boil in which diners can pick their seafood from among enticing choices such as blue crabs, king, snow and Dungeness crab legs, lobster tails, shrimp, crawfish, clams, and green or black mussels. Then you choose a sauce and pick a spice level. Also on the menu are appetizers, fried seafood or chicken baskets and po boy sandwiches.
