Restaurant industry veteran Scott Stanford joins leadership team in a new role
Newk’s Eatery, the fast casual restaurant known for its culinary-driven menu and open kitchens, has named Scott Stanford vice president of human resources, a new position for the company.
Stanford will oversee the company’s growth in human capital as Newk’s prepares to more than double in size over the next three years. His responsibilities will include Newk’s employee/labor relations and all human resources functions. He will also lead the company’s talent management and training programs based on its People: Culture: Discipline model, including the Newk’s Academy, designed to train its hourly partners, and Management 101 for in-restaurant leaders.
“Newk’s maintains an unparalleled dedication to personal service, which starts with our hourly partners and in-restaurant management staff,” said Newk’s Chief Operating Officer Jim Greco. “Scott brings a tremendous amount of experience to this new role, which will allow us to maintain our commitment to our key values while growing at an explosive rate.”
Stanford has extensive background in training and human resources and was most recently director of human resources for the Total Rewards Division at The University of Mississippi Medical Center. Before that, he spent eight years as vice president of human resources for McAlister’s Deli, where he worked with Newk’s co-founder, President and CEO Chris Newcomb.
With more than 80 locations throughout the South and Southeast, Newk’s continues to expand its system-wide operations to support its franchise and corporate growth. The chain plans to expand to more than 200 locations by 2018.
Based in Jackson, Mississippi, Newk’s Eatery is leading the next generation of fast casual with its culinary-driven menu prepared in open-view kitchens that prepare made-from-scratch soups, fresh tossed salads, artisan pizzas, hot toasted sandwiches and desserts. Founded in 2004, Newk’s currently operates and franchises more than 80 units in 13 states, and is gaining national attention for its accelerated growth and commitment to community.
