As hot summer days stretch into cool summer nights, OpenTable, a leading provider of free, real-time online restaurant reservations for diners and reservation and guest management solutions for restaurants, is pleased to announce the 2012 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Late Night Dining Restaurants in the United States. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The list of winners, which includes celebrity-magnet The Darby in New York, Top Chef winner Ilan Hall’s The Gorbals in Los Angeles, and the critically acclaimed nopa in San Francisco, covers 24 states and Washington, D.C. California, New York, and Georgia have the greatest number of winning restaurants, with 16, 12, and 11, respectively. Nevada counts 8 winners, followed by Florida with six, and North Carolina and Washington, D.C. with five each. Illinois and Texas boast four winners apiece, with Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, and Tennessee with three each. Hawaii, Oregon, and Pennsylvania have two winners each. Other states represented include Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Kansas, Ohio, and South Carolina. American cuisine easily proved the most popular late-night pick, with more than 30 winners serving homegrown fare.
“The top late-night dining restaurants are a hit with foodies, fun seekers, and industry insiders,” said Caroline Potter, OpenTable’s Chief Dining Officer. “From hot culinary creations, cool cocktail programs, and soundtracks to match, these winning restaurants have high-energy atmospheres that will make any diner want to stay up past bedtime.”
The Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 100 Late Night Dining Restaurants is generated from more than 5 million reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between August 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012. All restaurants with a minimum number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which “late night find” was selected as a special feature.
Based on this methodology, the following restaurants, listed in alphabetical order, comprise the Top 100 Late Night Dining Restaurants in the U.S. according to OpenTable diners. The complete list may also be viewed at http://www.opentable.com/latenight.
