As if race fans needed another reason to cheer for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) driver Ryan Newman during the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, there’s yet another good one courtesy of sponsor Outback Steakhouse.
Whenever Newman finishes in the top-10, fans will get a free Bloomin’ Onion at Outback Steakhouse on the Monday immediately following the race. It’s a promotion that is sure to generate more interest than ever in where Newman and his No. 39 Chevrolet finish during each Sprint Cup race in 2012.
The race is on for a free Bloomin’ Onion beginning this weekend with the season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Newman won the Daytona 500 in 2008.
“Our goals at the beginning of the season are always to win every race,” said Newman, driver of the No. 39 Outback Steakhouse Chevrolet. “But we know it isn’t realistic to win every race on the schedule, so we want to get as many top-fives and top-10s as possible. Now, we have even more incentive to get a top-10 finish every weekend – for us and for the fans. A free Bloomin’ Onion for every top-10 finish? You can count me in for that.
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Outback Steakhouse, and I know why it’s been voted the best steak year in and year out. And a Bloomin’ Onion is the perfect way to start any steak dinner.”
Outback Steakhouse will be the primary sponsor of Newman and the No. 39 team for two races in 2012 – at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in April and Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in August. When not serving as a primary sponsor, Outback Steakhouse will be an associate sponsor with placement on the B-post of the No. 39 Chevrolet Impala.
“Our signature Bloomin Onion seemed like a natural way to provide our customers and Ryan’s fans with an exciting reason to visit Outback Steakhouse throughout the racing season,” said Karen Soots, senior director, media services at Outback Steakhouse. “We hope to give away lots of Bloomin Onions every week.”
