Philly Pretzel Factory Makes its Debut in the Buckeye State

Philly Pretzel Factory Opens its First Ohio Location in the Greater Dayton AreaPhilly Pretzel Factory is preparing to open its doors in Ohio for the first time. Local entrepreneurs and husband-and-wife team, Ed and Julie Horan, will be opening the state’s first Philly Pretzel Factory location on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 1063 S. Main Street in Centerville, Ohio.

Once the doors open, guests will be able to enjoy one complementary pretzel per day until December 10, 2016 when the Horans celebrate their new location with a ribbon cutting and grand opening event.

Ed Horan is a native Philadelphian who currently resides with his family in the Dayton area. He decided that he wanted to go into business for himself, but not by himself, so he began researching potential franchise opportunities. Excited by the Philly Pretzel Factory concept and the chance to bring a taste of home to Dayton, Ed contacted the corporate team with Philly Pretzel Factory and became the state’s first franchisee.

“While I love living in the Dayton area, I’ve always missed having soft pretzels for breakfast and throughout the day,” said Horan. “My wife and I are confident that the local community here will embrace Philly Pretzel Factory and the fresh-baked pretzels ‘served hot outta the oven.’ We are excited to help grow the brand throughout the Dayton area.”

With more than 150 locations nationwide, the world’s largest Philly-style bakery has had its eye on Ohio for quite some time. The brand has intense development plans for the state, looking to add seven additional locations in the Dayton area before further building out other large cities across Ohio. In total, Philly Pretzel Factory is planning to open 35 more locations in Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus over the next five years.

“Opening this location in Ohio is a huge step to further propel major development plans as we continue to expand the franchise westward,” said Chief Development Officer Tom Monaghan. “With one location in Indiana, we are going to be adding new locations throughout the Midwest as we find the right franchise partners that want to help bring Philly-style pretzels across the U.S.”

Philly Pretzel Factory offers consumers a fresh, healthier choice of a satisfying snack with their fresh-baked pretzels that are “served hot outta the oven.” Philly Pretzel Factory was founded in 1998 by college buddies Dan DiZio and Len Lehman and has grown into the largest Philly style pretzel bakery in the world, feeding customers at more than 150 franchised locations primarily in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, expanding from New York to Florida. Philly Pretzel Factory’s menu offers the traditional Philly style pretzel and also includes pretzel twists, mini pretzels, rivets, pretzel dogs, cheesesteak pretzels and a variety of mustards. These products can be found in a stand-alone bakery, transportation and entertainment venues, and in the nation’s largest retailer, Walmart.
