Largest Philly-Style Pretzel Bakery Featured as an Iconic Food on “Philly Eats” Segment
Philly Pretzel Factory’s famous pretzels will be featured on Harry Connick Jr.’s new show, “Harry,” on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016. The new daytime show airs weekdays in Philadelphia on FOX 29 at 2:00 p.m. For markets outside of Philadelphia, viewers can check local listings.
“Being on ‘Harry’ was like going to a party during the daytime. Harry, the audience and crew all got to enjoy our pretzels and truly get a taste of Philly at the taping in New York,” said Adam Terranova, Marketing Manager of Philly Pretzel Factory, a 150-plus-unit pretzel chain born and raised in Philadelphia. “Our pretzels are such an iconic treat that are a must-try food if you come to the City of Brotherly Love.”
Pretzels have a long history in the state of Pennsylvania, brought over by the German settlers. People in Philadelphia started making them in a new, figure eight shape to have the ability to bake more pretzels so they could keep up with the demand. Philly Pretzel Factory’s Founder and CEO, Dan DiZio, started selling pretzels at a busy intersection in Philadelphia when he was only 11 years old. After graduating college in 1998, he joined forces with his college roommate Len Lehman to open the first Philly Pretzel Factory in the Mayfair neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia. Six years later, the company began franchising.
“On ‘Harry,’ we’re featured alongside three other iconic Philly food establishments – Pat’s Cheesesteaks, Federal Doughnuts, and Frangelli’s. It’s great that when people think of Philly food, they think of our pretzels,” said DiZio. “I take great pride in the company’s deep roots in Philadelphia, and I love to see the brand find fans across the U.S. as we continue to expand with new franchise partners.”
As the world’s largest Philly-style bakery, Philly Pretzel Factory delivers customers delicious soft pretzels “served hot outta the oven.” Each is twisted with a mix of the finest and freshest ingredients to ensure quality and authenticity.
The franchise currently has more than 150 locations, and stores can be found in 13 states. The brand is increasing national reach with a new focus on adding locations in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Texas. The company plans to have more than 200 locations by the end of 2017.
