Pieology Pizzeria, an originator and leader in the customizable, fast-fired pizza segment, has expanded its leadership team to include Debbie Porter, its first vice president of marketing. Porter, who most recently served as head of marketing at Bravo Brio Restaurant Group, will lead all brand, marketing, digital, menu, and communications efforts for Pieology as it continues to evolve and grow in the emerging fast-casual, build-your-own pizza segment. With 27 restaurants in California, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Ohio, Pieology Pizzeria has plans to open upwards of 100 restaurants through 2015.
“Debbie is a proven and effective marketing strategist, who brings to Pieology a wealth and depth of experience to our team,” said Carl Chang, founder and CEO, Pieology Pizzeria. “Debbie’s perspective and focus on brand, marketing and communications across traditional and digital platforms will be at the core of our continued expansion and evolution in coming years.”
Porter comes to Pieology with nearly two decades of food and restaurant industry experience across several segments. Before her tenure at Bravo Brio Restaurant Group, she also served in senior marketing positions at The Veggie Grill, Fox Restaurant Concepts, and Kahala Restaurant Franchising.
“As one of the founders of the custom, made-to-order pizza segment, Carl has quietly built an incredibly successful and profitable concept that is now poised for rapid expansion across the U.S.,” said Porter. “The Pieology brand has always been the leader in this competitive category and is authentically innovative and genuine at its core. This is a tremendous opportunity to take this great brand to the next level as interest in this exciting segment continues to heat up.”
Pieology Pizzeria evolved out of the simple yet ingenious idea to make America’s favorite food even more fun, accessible, affordable and delicious. It’s a creative and interactive process that starts with fresh, house made 11.5-inch, thin, seasoned artisan crusts. As the guests, or Pieologists, move down the line, they select among five sauces including red, herb butter, olive oil, pesto and barbeque sauces. They can then choose from dozens of fresh, flavorful toppings including four cheeses, five meats or proteins, and fresh vegetables, herbs and spices to create their own, unique “masterpiece-za” for one affordable price. For those who would prefer recipes from the “Pizza Lab,” Pieology also offers seven signature pizzas, which guests can also modify at no extra charge. The pizzas are fast-fired in under three minutes in a flaming hot oven and are delivered to the table by Pieology’s friendly servers, or boxed up for take-out.
In addition to pizzas, Pieology offers a gluten-free pizza crust, plus house made Caesar or Classic Organic salads, savory Herb Butter or sweet Cinnamon Sugar Strips, and a selection of sodas and other beverages.
Building on the original vision to inspire positivity and creativity, the industrial-chic interiors of each Pieology restaurant feature motivational quotes adorning the walls, menus and employee uniforms.
Using only the freshest and most flavorful ingredients, award-winning Pieology Pizzeria prides itself on offering build-your-own, delicious, artisan pizzas in under three minutes. Pieology Pizzeria has 27 restaurants in California, Colorado, Texas, Oregon, Utah and Ohio with plans to bring its innovative, made-to-order pizza concept to more markets, including Arizona and Minnesota.
