As an extension of the new Alhambra Pizza Studio’s Grand Opening earlier this month, owner Luke Strockis is hosting a Pizza Box Art Contest & Gallery Opening event on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served. The event will showcase nearly 50 local artists who have used a variety of media to create art out of pizza boxes. The “masterpizza’s” art theme relates to “Alhambra’s past, present and possibilities” and the general public has been voting for their favorite submissions in the restaurant since October 19. Voting ends Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 6:00pm. The first place winner will receive $500 and free pizza for a year. The second place winner will receive $250 and the third place winner will receive $100. A large number of the art submissions were received from the Alhambra Unified School District’s L.I.F.T (Learning Independence for Transition) program which benefits young adults with special needs. For every vote received, Pizza Studio will donate funds to benefit the art program in the YMCA of San Gabriel Valley. All winners will be announced at the event.
Pizza Studio Restaurants throughout the nation are also committed to its local art community and proudly supports local artists by providing a ‘Starving Artists’ Wall’ – which displays and sells local art pieces commission-free. Also, with the help of our partners at Feeding America, all Pizza Studio restaurants play an active role in fighting hunger by donating a free meal for every 20 points earned in its Rewards Program.
