Fernley, NV location to open in Q1, 2024, the Franchise’s Seventh in the State
Squeeze In, the lively breakfast and lunch spot known for serving up the best omelettes on the planet since 1974, announced that it will be ringing in 2024 with a new restaurant in Fernley, Nevada. The location marks the seventh Nevada restaurant for the Main Street Truckee original, and will be situated at the Fernley Village Marketplace, 1480 Hwy 95A North, 30 or so miles East of Reno. Approximately 2,300 square feet, with space for 130 guests to ‘squeeze in,’ it’s the first Squeeze In for the town of Fernley, and it brings with it the brand’s reputation for hosting a bumpin’ breakfast, 7 days a week.
The owner-operators to-be of the new Squeeze In are local businessmen Troy Blake and Jim Gurnea. Mr. Blake owns and operates a shipping and logistics company, while Mr. Gurnea owns construction and hospitality locations in the area. Both longtime Fernley residents who have enjoyed countless omelettes at the Squeeze In over the years, they made the decision to ink a two-restaurant deal (a Spanish Springs location is slated to open in Q3, 2024) after taking a closer look at the brand’s best-in-class operations.
“Jim and I have been Squeeze In regulars for years; I go there nearly everyday for Breakfast,” said Troy. “ After meeting with the leadership team, we felt more than confident going all in with this brand. We are looking forward to welcoming Fernley residents into what we hope will be their new favorite breakfast and lunch spot.”
Founded in the mountain ski town of Truckee, California in 1974, the Squeeze In now has nine locations across California, Nevada and Idaho, and has developed a strong following of loyal guests known as ‘EggHeads’. Each restaurant features bright sunny walls that guests can sign with a sharpie, eclectic decor and art, and an energetic vibe that keeps locals and visitors coming back for more.
“After nearly half a century of operations, the Squeeze In has become a treasure for the generations of families we serve,” explains Shila Morris, co-owner of the Squeeze In family of restaurants. “We want nothing more than for our guests to feel right at home, and when they bring their kids, their grandkids, their friends, their spouses…that’s when we know we’re doing it right. We’re so happy Jim and Troy are bringing Squeeze In to Fernley!”
Menu highlights include hearty omelettes, generous mimosas, banana walnut pancakes, classic biscuits and gravy, award-winning bloody marys, eggs benedict options, pancakes, sandwiches, salads, and more. The team at Squeeze In prides themselves on taking care of guests like family.
In 1974, a tiny little kitchen started selling omelettes to locals and tourists in historic downtown Truckee, California. Just 10’ 3” wide, and with only 39 seats, guests would literally have to ‘squeeze in’ to enjoy their breakfast at the little restaurant. As the list of omelette options grew, so did the popularity of the restaurant, and by the mid 80s it was a Tahoe/Truckee institution. Now there are 9 locations across 3 states with more on the way. Known for being cozy, eccentric, comforting, and fun, the Squeeze In has developed a following unlike any other. Franchise opportunities are available. Please visit squeezein.com for more information.
