National Award-Winning PR Agency Lands PR Industry Star Dee Rambeau as Vice President and Chief Creative Officer
Nearly 10 years after launching its business on the 4th of July, Charlotte-based restaurant public relations firm DFPR is starting the 2016 fireworks early, rebranding its business as 150PR and adding PR industry veteran Dee Rambeau as Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer.
“In 2006, the name DFPR made sense but those days really ended a long time ago. So, in many ways, this rebranding is overdue.” said 150PR president Derek Farley. “Tom Beyer joined in 2008 and has served as EVP and managing partner for the past 8 years. We’ve built our business steadily on purpose, with purpose and most importantly, by adding the right people. The privilege of adding an industry rock star like Dee Rambeau puts an exclamation point on where our agency is going. In early discussions with Rambeau, we broke out a calculator to add up the years of PR experience our agency’s collective team had with him on board. It landed on 150 years. It was a sign that the timing was perfect for a rebrand and that we had found the perfect new name for our evolving company.”
Rambeau is a 25-year veteran of the communications industry with experience across all facets. As a successful entrepreneur who built and sold a PR/media software firm to PR Newswire, the world’s largest news distribution company and also the company where he met Farley and Beyer. He worked closely with some of America’s biggest brands in developing their content marketing strategies. As a former television writer and producer, Rambeau produced hundreds of hours of broadcast, cable, and corporate video programming. He also owns Rambeau Media, a full-service media production, distribution, and monitoring company, which will add a service element to 150PR that is increasingly important to customers. “Short-form video storytelling is increasingly the best way to drive brand engagement,” says Rambeau. Possessing a deep technical and creative expertise, Dee is also a committed foodie, outdoor enthusiast, and experienced traveler, fitting perfectly into 150PR’s client profile.
“We’ve been a scrappy, nimble, results-driven agency since day one and that put us in the position to expand strategically. I fully believe we are hitting our stride and the best is ahead of us and, more importantly, our client partners,” said Beyer. “It’s rare in any industry, especially in the PR world, where the company motto is ‘friends first, now let’s do great work’ yet that is what it has been with Derek and me for a decade. Dee fits into that perfectly. There is a common respect both in and out of the office among the executive team and we can’t wait to start working together with our long-time friend and now colleague.”
Since 2006, newly named 150PR has served or is serving as the public relations agency of record for national restaurant chains such as Applebee’s, TGI Fridays, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, Shoney’s, Arooga’s, JJ’s Red Hots, Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar, Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries, CUPS Frozen Yogurt, Paciugo, Fox & Hound, Mimi’s Cafe, Champps and Hickory Tavern. The agency is also PR AOR for Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co., for which it created the nationally-renowned Safe Step Cares program, and UFC GYM’s Franchise Company. The firm routinely wins national awards on behalf of its clients from third party organizations such as Bulldog Awards, The Communicator Awards and the League of American Communication Professionals.
According to Farley, “given the seniority of the executive principals, 150PR will forego a formal executive reporting structure. We only report to our client partners.”
