HIGHWAY 55 BURGERS SHAKES AND FRIES (formerly Andy’s Burgers Shakes & Fries, founded 1991) based in Mount Olive, NC has increased by 1 unit, from 99 to 100 (1% growth) and expanded into SC and VA.  These are family/casual restaurants with a per person check average of around $6-$12.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Franchising is offered.  Locations are in NC, SC and VA.

BIG BURRITO RESTAURANT GROUP of Pittsburgh, PA (founded 1993) has increased 2 units for Mad Mex, from 9 to 11 (22% growth).  These are family/casual Mexican restaurants with full bar and seating for around 200.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $8-$20.  Other company concepts are Casbah (1), Eleven (1), Kaya (1), Soba (1) and Umi (1).  Overall company increase is from 14 to 16 (14% growth).  Locations are in OH and PA.

Brentwood, TN-based BLUE COAST BURRITO (founded 2000) has increased by 1 unit, from 13 to 14 (8% growth).  These fast casual Mexican restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8 per person check average.  Units have seating for about 80 and offer catering and online ordering.  The restaurants are franchised and trade in AR and TN.

Tampa, FL-based GREEN IGUANA BAR & GRILL (founded 1990) has added 2 new concepts called Hula Bay and the Retreat.  The company operates 5 Green Iguana locations.  Overall company increase was from 6 to 7 (17% company growth) due to a 1 unit closure for the Green Iguana concept.  These are family/casual bar and grill concepts, serving American cuisine.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person check average.  Seating is for about 100.  The restaurants also offer catering and banquet services.  All locations are in FL.

BRUSTER’S REAL ICE CREAM of Pittsburgh, PA (founded 1989) has increased by 1 unit, from 222 to 223 (1% growth).  These are quick serve ice cream shops with limited seating.  Locations are open during lunch and dinner hours.  Per person check average is around $2-$6.  Catering is offered.  Trading areas are AL, AR, DE, FL, GA, IN, KY, MD, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX and VA.

Rogers, AR-based GUSANO’S CHICAGO-STYLE PIZZERIA has increased by 1 unit, from 7 to 8 (14% growth).  These family/casual Italian & pizza restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person price range.  The restaurants have full bar and seating for around 100.  Delivery is available.  Locations are franchised and trade in AR, MO, OK, and TX.

Denver, CO-based LITTLE INDIA has increased by 1 unit, from 3 to 4 (33% growth).  These family/casual Indian restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with a $10-$30 per person check average.  The restaurants have full bar and seating for about 100.  Catering and delivery services are available.  All locations are in CO.

Nashville, TN-based BRICKTOPS (founded 2006) has increased by 2 units, from 4 to 6 (50% growth) and entered into MO.  This is an upscale concept, serving American cuisine.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner, with a $15-$50+ per person check average.  The restaurants have full bar and seating for about 200.  Trading areas are FL, GA, MO, NC, and TN.

THREE DOLLAR CAFÉ based in Atlanta, GA, has increased by 2 units from 6 to 8 (33% growth).  These are family/casual restaurants with full bar and seating for around 250.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $6-$12.  Catering is available.  Locations are more than 90% franchised and are in GA.

Coral Springs, FL-based D’LITES EMPORIUM (founded 1982) has increased by 2 units, from 20 to 22 (10% growth) and entered into TX and VA.  This take-out ice cream concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $2-$6 per person price range.  Online ordering is available.  Trading areas are FL, GA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, Panama, Mexico and Honduras.

JUST SALAD of New York, NY (founded 2006) has increased by 4 units, from 9 to 13 (44% growth).  These are fast casual restaurants with seating for around 50.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$10.  Catering and delivery services are offered.  All locations are in NY.

Dallas TX-based BOB’S STEAK & CHOP HOUSE (founded 1993) has increased by 3 units, from 6 to 9 (50% growth) and entered into Australia.  This upscale steakhouse concept is open for dinner, with a $15-$50+ per person check average.  Restaurants have full bar and seating for about 250.  Banquet services are available.  Trading areas are AZ, CA, TX, and Australia.

Plymouth, MA-based BRITISH BEER COMPANY has increased by 1 unit, from 10 to 11 (10% growth) and entered into RI.  These bar and grill restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with an $8-$20 per person check average.  Full bar is served and seating is for about 125.  Private party services are available.  Trading areas are MA and RI.  We last featured this concept on 5/10/11 (11% growth).

THE EGG & I based in Lone Tree, CO (founded 1987) has increased by 12 units, from 52 to 64 (23% growth).  These are casual restaurants with seating for around 125.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$10.  Banquets are offered.  Locations are more than 70% franchised and are in AL, AR, AZ, CO, FL, IL, KS, ME, MO, NE, NM, TX, UT, WI and WY.  We last reported on this concept on 2/7/12 (21% growth).

Birmingham, AL-based ZOE’S KITCHEN (founded 1995) has increased by 9 units, from 60 to 69 (15% growth).  This fast casual Mediterranean concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$12 per person check average.  Beer and wine are served at select locations.  Units have seating for about 60.  Catering is available.  Trading areas are AL, AZ, FL, GA, KY, LA, MD, NC, SC, TN, TX, and VA.  Franchising is available.  We featured this concept on 7/26/11 (9% growth), 9/6/11 (10% growth) and on 3/20/12 (9% growth).

BLACK BEAR DINER based in Redding, CA (founded 1995) has increased by 4 units, from 51 to 55 (8% growth).  These are family/casual restaurants with seating for around 150.  Beer and wine are served.  Meal periods are breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $6-$12.  Franchising is offered.  Locations are in AZ, CA, CO, IA, NV, OR, UT and WA.  We reported on this concept on 1/31/12 (9% growth).

Toledo, OH-basd MARCO’S PIZZA (founded 1978) has increased by 39 units, from 282 to 321 (14% growth) and entered into IA, IL, MO, and NE.  These take-out/delivery pizzerias are open for lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8 per person price range.  Units have limited seating and offer catering and online ordering services.  All units are franchised and trade in AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MI, MO, NC, ND, NE, NV, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, VA, and WI.  We wrote about this concept on 7/26/11 (17% growth) and on 3/27/12 (13% growth).
