Norfolk, VA-based SURF RIDER RESTAURANT (founded 1980) has increased by 1 unit, from 6 to 7 (17% growth).  These family/casual seafood restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with an $8-$20 per person check average.  The restaurants have full bar and seating for about 150.  All locations are in VA.

Virginia-based CAPITAL ALEHOUSE (founded 2002) has increased by 1 unit, from 4 to 5 (25% growth).  These family/casual restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, serving American cuisine.  Per person check average is $10-$30, with full bar service.  Seating is for about 300.  Banquet service is available.  All locations are in VA.

Austin, TX-based CASA GARCIA MEXICAN RESTAURANT has increased by 1 unit, from 4 to 5 (25% growth).  The restaurants are family/casual, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $6-$15+.  Full bar is served and seating is for about 200.  Catering and online ordering services are available.  All locations are in TX.

Holland, OH-based SCRAMBLER MARIE’S BREAKFAST BISTRO (founded 1990) has increased by 4 units, from 15 to 19 (27% growth).  This family/casual concept is open for breakfast and lunch hours, with a $6-$12 per person check average.  Units seat about 250 and offer private party services.  The restaurants trade in MI and OH.  Franchising is available.

COHN RESTAURANT GROUP based in San Diego, CA (founded 1981) has increased by 4 units, from 11 to 15 (36% company growth).  They have added new concepts called 100 Wines (2), Bo-beau (1) and Vintana (1).  Other company concepts are 333 Pacific (1), Analog (1), Blue Point Coastal Cuisine (1), Corvette Diner (1), Gaslamp Strip Club (1), Indigo Grill (1), Island Prime (1), La Jolla Strip Club (1), Pineapple Grill (1), Prado At Balboa Park (1) and Tea Pavilion (1).  These tend to be family/casual restaurants with full bar and seating for around 250.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $10-$30.  Catering and banquets are offered.  Locations are in CA and HI.

Irvine, CA-based YOGURTLAND (founded 2006) has increased by 63 units, from 150 to 213 (42% growth) and entered into IL, MO, NJ, NY, and OR.  This quick serve frozen yogurt concept is open for lunch and dinner hours, with a $2-$6 per person price range.  Units seat about 30.  Stores are franchised and trade in AK, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, IL, LA, MO, NJ, NV, NY, OR, TX, UT, WA, Japan, Mexico, and Guam.  We last wrote about this concept on 10/25/11 (11% growth).

Dallas, TX-based 8.0 MANAGEMENT has increased by 1 unit for the Flying Fish concept, from 7 to 8 (14% concept growth) and by 1 unit for the Flying Saucer, from 14 to 15 (7% concept growth) and entered into KS.  The company also added a new concept called Meddlesome Moth.  Overall company increase was from 22 to 24 (9% growth) due to the closure of the 8.0 Restaurant and Bar concept.   The restaurants have full bar and seating for about 200.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person check average.  Private party facilities are available.  Trading areas are AR, KS, MO, NC, SC, TN, and TX.  We last featured this company on 8/9/11 (5% growth).
