Long Branch, NJ-based WINDMILL RESTAURANTS (founded 1976) has increased by 1 unit, from 8 to 9 (13% growth).  This is a quick serve concept, serving burgers and hot dogs.  Meal periods are breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a $2-$6 per person price range.  Locations serve beer and have seating for about 80.  Catering is available.  Between 60% and 70% of the stores are franchised.  All are located in NJ.

LUCKY WISHBONE based in Tucson, AZ (founded 1953) has increased by 1 unit, from 7 to 8 (14% growth).  These are quick serve restaurants with seating for around 30.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$10.  Catering is offered.  All locations are in AZ.

Illinois-based FOX’S RESTAURANT & PUB (founded 1964) has increased by 1 unit, from 5 to 6 (20% growth).  These family/casual pizzerias are open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person check average.  The restaurants have full bar and seating for around 125.  Catering, banquet, delivery, and online ordering services are available.  All locations are in IL.

ALICART GROUP based in New York, NY (founded 1990) has increased by 1 unit for Virgil’s Real BBQ, from 1 to 2 (100% concept growth).  These are family/casual BBQ restaurants with full bar and seating for around 250.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $15-$50+.  Other company concepts are Artie’s Deli (1), Carmine’s (5) and Gabriella’s (1).  Overall company growth is from 8 to 9 (13% company growth).  Catering and banquets are offered.  Locations are in DC, NJ, NY and the Bahamas.

CHAR-GRILL headquartered in Raleigh, NC (founded 1959) has increased by 1 unit, from 8 to 9 (13% growth).  These are take-out burger restaurants with a per person check average of around $2-$6.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Franchising is offered.  All locations are in NC.

Dallas, TX-based WILLIAMS CHICKEN (founded 1987) has increased by 10 units, from 28 to 38 (36% growth).  This quick serve chicken concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8 per person price range.  Stores have seating for about 60 and offer catering, delivery and drive-thru services.  About 50% of locations are franchised.  All the restaurants are in TX.

Cleveland, OH-based SELECT RESTAURANTS (founded 1992) has increased by 1 unit, from 11 to 12 (9% growth), with the addition of a new concept called Queensview Steakhouse.  Other company concepts include Parkers Blue Ash Grill (1), Parker’s Lighthouse (1), Parker’s Restaurant & Bar (1), Pier W (1), Rusty Scupper (1), Top Of The Hub (1), and Winberie’s (5).  These are upscale restaurant concepts, open for lunch and dinner, serving multiple cuisine types.  Per person check average is $15-$50+, with full bar service and average seating for about 150.  Catering and banquet services are available.  Trading areas are CA, IL, MA, MD, NJ, OH, and PA.

CRACKER BARREL OLD COUNTRY STORE (NASDAQ: CBRL) headquartered in Lebanon, TN (founded 1969) has increased by 19 units, from 602 to 621 (3% growth).  These are family/casual restaurants with seating for around 175.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served.  Per person check average is around $6-$12.  Locations are in AL, AR, AZ, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI and WV.

Emerging and Re-emerging Concepts

Miami, FL-based CHICK-N-GRILL (founded 1999) has increased by 6 units, from 7 to 13 (86% growth) and entered into AL and LA.  These fast casual chicken restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$10 per person price range.  The restaurants seat about 60 and offer catering and delivery services.  Units are franchised and trade in AL, FL, and LA.

CRAVE based in Bloomington, MN (founded 2007) has increased by 2 units, from 6 to 8 (33% growth).  These are upscale restaurants with full bar and seating for around 225.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $15-$50+.  Catering and banquet services are available.  Locations are in FL, MN and NE.

Upton, MA-based RED BARN COFFEE (founded 1997) has increased by 4 units, from 4 to 8 (100% growth).  These quick serve coffee shops are open for breakfast and lunch hours, with a $4-$10 per person price range.  Units seat about 20 and offer catering services.  All stores are located in MA.

Little Rock, AR-based US PIZZA CO (founded 1972) has increased by 3 units, from 12 to 15 (25% growth).  The restaurants are quick serve, open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$10 per person price range.  Units seat about 80 and serve beer and wine.  Online ordering and delivery services are available.  Locations are licensed and trade in AR.
