Paliani’s Restaurant received national attention and underwent a full makeover — from the decor to the menu — when the Food Network show “Restaurant Impossible” came to visit over the summer. But it wasn’t enough for the struggling eatery.
Owner Marina Bufalini said she’s closing the restaurant Dec. 31.
“I’m sad that I — I’m just sad. I’m so sad. I wanted so much for everything to work,” Bufalini said Friday, Dec. 28.
“When you do something crazy like call a reality TV show … you either succeed very publicly or fail very publicly.”
While the show gave her restaurant an instant boost in sales — about 40 percent higher than normal in the two months after it aired in September, she said — business eventually slowed down.
