Berkeley, CA – Anvil Brewing Company
Two local Home Brewers have honed their skills enough and are planning on opening a craft brewery in the spring of 2016. Both brewers are animal surgeons who plan on continuing working in that capacity, but they will likely hire another brewer as they get closer to an opening.

Queens, NY – Burnside Biscuits
General manager Tommy Sardo says the menu will be simple with biscuit sandwiches, fried chicken, wood-fired vegetables and local beer and wine on tap. They plan on opening in the old Athen’s cafe space by the end of July.

Raleigh, NC – Big Ed’s City Market Restaurant
This will be the second location for Big Ed’s which will be located in the Quail Corners shopping Center on Neuse Rd. The menu will mirror their other restaurant with traditional Southern Cuisine. Big Ed’s North will seat about 180, employ about 60 staff and unlike the downtown location, be open for dinner. They are planning on opening in July.

Orlando, FL – Caliente  
Jim Lakey, owner of Gallery on the Edge, has signed a lease that includes Annabelle Hart and Julianna’s, to open his new restaurant concept, Caliente. According to the College Park Community Paper, Caliente will be part of a hybrid furnishings and gift store called The Shoppes of College Park, with a focus on Cuban food. Lakey hopes to open Caliente and The Shoppes by early July of this year.

McFarland, WI – Cold Fusion
The former Patrick’s Grill will become Cold Fusion which will be operated by Joe Perkins who has restaurants in Middleton and Platteville. Cold Fusion will emphasize ribs, hamburgers and chicken when it opens soon. But Perkins also knows he needs to change attitudes about the location on a relatively isolated spot along Highway 51. No date was given for an opening.

Kansas City, KS – Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken
Tennessee- based restaurant is taking a corner space in the former Fairway North Shopping Center which is becoming the Northwood Shopping Center. Andrew Johnson is the managing partner for the area franchisee group. The chain has 10 locations now and hope to open in the 3400 sq. ft. spot by late summer/early fall time frame.
