Detroit, MI – Social Sushi
Owner Jay Rayford will finally have a place to go to work when this socially-oriented casual eatery opens at 18663 Livernois Avenue this coming September. The company had been a “pop-up” and was seeking a final location. A high-tech machine to combine the rice with the seaweed to speed the rolling process.
Albuquerque, NM – Tomasita’s
After 40+ years of listening to customer suggestions the owners of the Santa Fe landmark will open their second unit at 4949 Pan American Fwy this coming October. The original location was subject to wait times of one to two hours, many guests being from out of town. Their Santa Fe menu will be offered.
Portland, OR – Nossa Familia Roastery
This family-operated coffee café will open four new units with the first in August to be located at SE 3rd. Avenue and SE Clay Street. In addition to their house-roasted coffee and espresso’s two of the new locations will have full kitchens offering freshly prepared South and Central American foods.
Charleston, SC – Graft
Partners Femi Oyediran and Miles White plan on a late summer opening of their wine-bar to be located at 700 King Street offering retail sales and tastings. While friends for many years they learned about wine independently, Oyediran working at Charleston Grill and White learning the trade on the west coast.
Tulsa, OK – Calaveras Mexican Grill
The Molina family will be twice as busy as they open their second unit later this year at 4909 S. Peoria Avenue. Their original location has been so busy it commanded an expansion through a patio and additional seating. Being a smaller footprint they may open as a taqueria, or a taco shop only.
Cleveland, OH – Citizen Pie
Owner Claudia Young is delighted at guests’ response to their first location so their second will open late July at 2144 West 25th. Street. The second location will have a larger footprint and will bring their “pizza for the people” attitude to the west side. Their individual size pies will still be offered along with calzones.
