Oakland, CA – Drake’s Dealership
John Martin, who owns Drake’s brewery and taproom in San Leandro, as well as Berkeley bars Jupiter and Triple Rock, is behind the large-scale project that will feature a 350-seat restaurant and beer garden, with a large private room for parties. They are planning for an early August opening.

Austin, TX – Emmer & Rye
Emmer & Rye – a new restaurant concept – is headed to SkyHouse Austin, the high-rise apartment complex at 51 Rainey St. Owner and Executive Chef Kevin Finkwill offer an eclectic menu with frequently changing options. Emmer & Rye is taking 3,227 square feet of retail space that comes with an 800-square-foot patio. This restaurant is expected to open early fall.

Miami, FL – Dirt
The restaurant will offer options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, like savory oatmeal, egg bowls filled with vegetables, grains, and proteins; cold-pressed juices and smoothies with house-made almond and Brazil nut milk; nourishing sandwiches  amongst other seasonal offerings. Dirt plans on opening in September.

Buffalo, NY – D’Avolio
D’Avolio Kitchen is only one of 3 new restaurants expected to open over the summer in downtown Buffalo. It will be located along the Main Street/Roosevelt Plaza corridor across from the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Other new offerings in the area include Rachlette’s and Pommes Frites.

Chicago, IL – Armour & Swift
Armour & Swift will be opening in the Google Building in about 3 months. Construction is underway and the restaurant has revealed many more details about the project. B. Hospitality chef Chris Pandel will helm the food program. One interesting unique feature of Armour & Swift is that it will offer an in-house concierge, presumably for the Google people and other high-rolling clientele. This person, similar to a hotel concierge, will assist with reservations at other restaurants and hotels, concert and theater tickets, auto detailing, and more.

Boston, MA – Centre Street Cafe
The team behind Tres Gatos and the newly revamped Centre Street Cafe is opening a third Jamaica Plain restaurant – and it will join the other two on Centre Street. It won’t be in the former Centre Street Sanctuary space at 365 Sanctuary St. rather, it’s headed for 711 Centre St., currently Ghazal Indian Cuisine. No date is available for an opening.
