Roanoke VA – Chipotle Mexican Grill
Another Chipotle is coming to the Roanoke Valley. The burrito chain will open in the building that was once home to Little Caesars in Salem at the intersection of West Main Street and Goodwin Avenue across the street from McDonald’s. The pizza shop is now reportedly moving to Spartan Square. Right now, Chipotle has locations in Roanoke and Blacksburg, but this will be its first in Salem. A new location is also expected to open in Christiansburg this fall.
Kempton IN – Tommy Tamale Market & Cafe
The beloved tamale stop is expanding. Tommy Tamale Market & Cafe will open a Keller location at 208 N. Main Street. The Tex-Mex restaurant opened in 2009, offering quality tamales, burritos, quesadillas and more than 70 dips and salsas to customers.
Manitowoc WI – Deklan’s Diner
A new “drive-in” restaurant is expected to open in the near future right across from the Manitowoc County Airport. SeehaferNews.com has spoken with Jeremy “Jay” Quasius about his 1950’s themed remodeling of the former Menasha Avenue airport restaurant. Quasius has plans to open in about a month with a ‘50’s
San Antonio TX – The Dooryard
New concept The Dooryard will feature a wall of 30 taps loaded with self-serve beers, seltzers and wines, MySA reports. Customers can pour as much or as little as they want since pricing is set by the ounce. Plans for the new spot, located inside the Starlight Oaks shopping center on SA’s northwest-side, include a food menu, outdoor seating for up to nine tables and a kids play area, according to MySA’s report.
Shawnee KS – McAlister’s Deli
Companies will expand their outreach by opening stores in locations with market deficiencies or in markets where the population is familiar with the product as an easy entry point. Muskogee is getting two businesses that use those strategies. Galleria Furniture will be moving into the former Staples building at 2911 E. Shawnee Bypass, and McAlister’s Deli is building a new restaurant on West Shawnee Bypass in the River City Plaza shopping center.
Los Angeles CA – Daybird
There’s always money in the chicken stand. Mei Lin, the chef behind Arts District restaurant Nightshade, plans to open a fast-casual restaurant serving Sichuan-spiced hot chicken in Silver Lake early next month. Lin said the new concept, Daybird, was in development with business partner Francis Miranda long before COVID-19 arrived but took on more relevance as restaurants shifted their focus toward takeout and delivery service.
