Buffalo, NY – 42 North Brewing Co
42 North Brewing Co. is in its final phase of construction and will open in East Aurora within the next two months. Located behind Vidler’s at 25 Pine St., it occupies two buildings that were formerly an aquarium store and an office.
Tyler, TX- Abuelo Mexican Restaurant
Construction has begun on a new Abuelo’s Mexican restaurant at 8926 S. Broadway Ave. in The Village at Cumberland Park in Tyler. The project is scheduled to finish sometime in October. The new location will cover 7,700-square-feet of interior space, with a trellised outdoor patio. The restaurant will have seating for 295 guests, and will employ 80 to 100 staff members.
Portland, OR- Abyssinian Kitchen
The former Sok Sab Bai space in Southeast Portland has sat empty since the food cart-turned-brick and mortar closed in February, but not for much longer. Abyssinian Kitchen serving authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine will take over the space in early September, with the remodel already underway. Elsa Wolday will be the chef/owner.
Miami, FL- Kona Grill
Kona will be opening in the newly expanded Dolphin Mall. The mall has seen upgrades with a 1300 space high-tech parking deck and numerous other restaurants opening this fall. Other new restaurants in this complex will include BRIO Tuscan Grill. Cabo Flats & Tequila Bar and Burger & Beer Joint.
New Orleans, LA- Bevi Seafood CO.
Your Mom’s Restaurant and Bar, a popular Hammond eatery owned and operated by two Baton Rouge entrepreneurs, is opening a second location at 250 W. Lee Drive in the space formerly occupied by Louis DeAngelo’s. The owners are making an estimated $250,000 investment renovating the 4,500-square-foot space, which has been vacant since DeAngelo’s closed at that location several years ago.
Portland, OR- Miminashi
Napa Valley chef Curtis Di Fede will return to downtown Napa’s culinary scene later this year with wine country’s first izakaya. The restaurant will accommodate 85 diners, with half of the clientele seated at communal bars designed for relaxed socializing. Before the restaurant’s opening in late fall, Di Fede will make his second trip of the year to Japan, visiting izakayas throughout the country to further inspire the cuisine and setting at Miminashi. A late fall opening is planned.
