Chef Chad Colby plans to spread his wings after his stint at Chi Spacca with the opening of his first solo venture featuring approachable fare in a casual-feel upscale atmosphere with a spring opening at 4653 Beverly Blvd. A Wood-fired oven will be the inspiration for Italian grilled meats and handmade pastas.
Atlanta, GA – Lazy Betty
Nothing is tighter than family and that’s why siblings Ron, Anita and Howard will open this fine dining tasting destination early 2019 at 1530 DeKalb Avenue. The setting will be intimate with seating for 71 guests who will encounter three different rotating menus, two of six courses and one of nine courses.
Kansas City, KS – Boathouse Grill
The setting will be at “Worlds of Fun” for this casual homage to comfort food so expect a spring opening at 4545 Worlds of Fun Avenue. Chef Wesley Boston has joined the culinary team to upgrade the parks’ menu offerings. The grill will seat 300 and offer favorites such as barbecue and rotisserie chicken.
Minneapolis, MN – P.S. Steak
Mike DeCamp the culinary director of the Jester restaurant group will breathe new life into former La Belle Vie location at 510 Groveland Terrace for a mid-January opening. Plans are for not one but two bars to be overseen by Jesse Held to be supported by the kitchen helmed by Wyatt Evans formerly of Heirloom.
Boston, MA – Fox & the Knife
Chef Karen Akunowicz formerly of Myers & Chang and a “Top Chef” alum will solo for the first time with her enoteca concept to open first quarter 2019 at 28 West Broadway. While the food may be upscale Chef Karen is seeking a warm and comfortable space where she can practice her fresh pasta skills.
Portland, OR – Yonder
Named for a southern term reflecting an unspecified distance this casual concept created by Chef Maya Lovelace should come to fruition sometime in January, 2019 at 4636 NE 42nd Avenue after many lengthy permit hiccups. She’ll bring her version of southern-fried chicken in a counter setting for hungry guests.
