Almond Milk and Date Smoothies Are Latest Innovation for Premium Smoothie Franchise
A new menu item has put Robeks firmly on AJ Diaz’s rotation for dining out. Diaz is on a Paleo diet and usually makes smoothies at home, but there was one recipe he could never get quite right: smoothies with dates.
So when he walked into a Robeks recently in Camarillo, Calif., and saw Almond Milk and Date Smoothies on the menu, he had to try one.
His verdict: “I’m going to get a Robeks almond milk smoothie with dates from now on when I want a treat!”
Robeks is offering three Almond Milk and Date smoothies for a limited time — Strawberry Splendor, which features tender strawberries, nutty almond milk, non-fat frozen yogurt, and chewy dates; Bountiful Berry, with ripe blueberries; and Pleasant Peach, with ripe peaches. All smoothies can be made dairy-free for 50¢.
Like other Robeks customers, Diaz is committed to his health. He avoids dairy, refined sugar, refined grains and other processed foods. Many places don’t accommodate his diet, so he would make his own green smoothies at home using broccoli, spinach, kale, fruit and almond milk. He’d add dates sometimes — they add bursts of sweetness — but the drink never turned out quite right.
Robeks nailed it.
“The smoothie has a very nice consistency and the bits of dates were fun to nibble on,” he said. And unlike other treats, the Almond Milk and Date smoothies at Robeks keep his diet on track, because they are made using items he already regularly consumes.
“The Strawberry Splendor I got was absolutely phenomenal! It was nicely tasty and wasn’t overly sweet, and most importantly, it didn’t give me a huge sugar crash,” he says.
The Almond Milk and Date smoothies are part of a wave of menu innovations at Robeks, which recently expanded the fresh-squeezed raw vegetable juices on its menu and added Greek Yogurt smoothies. To learn more and find a location near you, visit www.robeks.com.
